Homemade mounts for Rizoma reservoirs

Earlier this year, I purchased Rizoma reservoirs all the way 'round on my bike to improve the looks.  My mechanic initially mounted them to the bars, but that wasn't ideal in terms of functionality (obstructed the view of the gauges a bit) or aesthetics.  Even so, it still looked pretty cool I thought, and was better looking than the stockers.  Here's the setup I had.

The more I looked at it though, the less content I was with it.  Just didn't like the looks.  My main concern was trying to eliminate having to create a new mounting point.  I didn't want to strap a mount somewhere.  Then it hit me...I could probably fit a thin piece of metal under the speedo, and use that as my mount.  That would also put the gauges off to the side of the speedo, just as I wanted.

I initially thought some used feeler gauges would work perfectly.  Thin, strong, etc.  That didn't work well.  Super resistant to being bent or drilled.  So I went to home depot and found a two foot long, thin strip of aluminum for less than $3.  Once I had this new material it was a piece of cake.  Cut it, rounded the edges, drilled holes, easily bent it, added a couple of washers, and, after a couple of tries, VOILA.  Plenty strong for the intended purpose.

Here is a shot of the install point...lifted the speedo, placed the mount underneath it, replaced speedo.  Worked great and allows rotation for the perfect distance/angle.

Here's the final product.

I may still do some adjusting to the angles and such, and may remove them and paint them black, but they definitely look better than I anticipated as is.  Just wanted to share this for those of you who buy these reservoirs and might need mounting ideas.

No, but I can see how it looks that way.  It's just the angle.  I also run my levers pretty low.
