  to the greatest generation.

Even though I was born 31 years after this event and have no personal connection to it I have nothing but admiration for the soldiers and sailors of the greatest generation.

I always used to wonder how people of the time felt about the attack, unfortunately after 9/11 I no longer do.

My Grandmother was a nurse at Pearl. She lived on the other side of the island and was outside on the lanai having breakfast
and was watching the planes fly overhead and wondered what was going on. A her and a few other nurse friends decided to run over
the pass and see what was up. They got over there and realized what was going on. My Grandfather some how got a piece of the Arizona's handrail
and shaped it into a cribbage board. It's an old piece of mahogany for sure. Another client I deal with was telling me when he was a young boy living there
he lived out around Diamond Head somewhere. Anyway the attack was going on and no one really knew what was happening so he had the bright idea as an 8 year old
to climb up Diamond Head for a look. He told me he got to the top and stood there as a Japanese plane banked around him not 50 feet away.
He said he looked the pilot right in the eyes not 50 feet away. He said it was almost like it was in slow motion.
To the greatest generation we'll see.
