Too funny......... in that ironic, boy-the-world-is-crazy, sense.   ;D
I didn't meet the guy today :( he couldn't make it by 3 and
I wasn't about to sit in that traffic again after the last 2
Days, but ill try again tomorrow. I at least want to see it... if the damage
Is cosmetic and it is just the battery any one  think of a reason why i shouldn't?
it is so much easier to get forgiveness then it will ever be to get permission.

Curious, did he say why it now has the salvage title?

Hard to believe, it could only be a battery issue....but, if it starts and runs pretty good...you have to get it!!

My people skills are just fine.

he didn't say in his email that it was totaled out or stolen only that "the left side is cracked but the frame is straight and no visible damage to the engine"

and they did the 15k service on it around 18k miles before i traded it in and it still had 2 years left on the extended warranty that was supposed to have been transferred to the new owner... so how bad could it be ???

the wife just rolled her eyes  [roll] and walked away when i told her i might want it back  ;D
i wont get any sleep tonight i know it [bang]

LOL   :o :o [roll]

BTW......
I spoke to the owner of the 848.  He got the bike just a month ago from the "Auction" with a salvaged title attached.
He said the bike was dropped resulting in cosmetic damage but no frame damage.
The bike has never run since he has owned it....he thinks it is an electrical / charging issue.   [popcorn]

I've no doubt that this is a clean restoration but I don't think it 's worth it. Maybe he'll get what he's asking, maybe not.

Once I graduated from the small Hondas of the time the forerunner of this bike was the first real big bike that I started to ride . It was my friend's 350 Victor that I had free rein to.  Funky.  Taught me how to kick start and bump start.  Really nothing to shout about.
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

the guy txted me this morning that if i wanted to see the bike its going to be in Waikiki tonight. then he calls me and says its still in Aiea if i want to come look. but he tells me he is leaving monday and needs the bike gone tomorrow. [bang] if only he would have called me back last week when i had time to go to the bank and get the money i might have been able to work something out. now all the FHB branches are closed and i cant get anything till the 26th [bang]

anyways if anyone has a spare $3k laying around and a  848 battery this might be a decent deal for ya. I'm pretty sure if you throw in the battery she will start right up since the charging system was replaced around 15k miles and the battery thats in it is the original that came with the bike ( i think).
and he is leaving island and needs it gone ASAP! (my favorite kind of sellers)

The guy renewed the posting again on the 23rd.  Got kind of a snarky response to it on CL but for some reason I can't copy & paste the link here.

For the extra $700 I know which one I'd choose.  I know the yellow bike slightly and it hasn't had lots of love for a while.

And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

Thank you.  I figured out how to do the cut/paste.  Confusion between shifting from a Mac system and a Microsoft system.   ;D
