So...yeah...blizzard. 50+mph wind gusts with 14.5 inches of snow on the ground here and still coming down (until about noon central time anyway).

So the federal building (home of my second office) is closed for only the 4th time in its existence.
And 2 of those times were due to the floods in 93 and 08 when it was completely surrounded by water.
The other office building closes before the Federal building.

So I call my boss last night and he says that I would need to bring my laptop home just in case so I could at least work on projects...
OK...great...but my job is on-site network and server maintenance...and a lot of what I do is hands on. In fact, my 5 current tickets are things like cooling fan replacements on routers, power supply replacement on a pair of POE switches...so...um...yeah.

So I call him this morning and he points out that we still have an obligation to perform our work for the customer, the USDA. Uh...but my duties are to perform on site work for them at 2 locations that are closed...
He insists that I log on and work on projects. So here I sit with my vpn connected to an empty office supporting folks that are at home not giving a rats ass about work and trying to think of a script I can write to keep my laptop from going idle.

Now where did I put that snowboard...  [Dolph]

Your mom.

Sorry. Had to.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

Where, not who.

I didn't leave that open... but your mom did!

Zing!

Central Iowa is the location. Same storm has been churning accross the US for a few days now. Dropped a couple of feet in the mountains then a foot or so across some of the plains and now it is churning on out of here into the great lakes.

The snow is/was decent. The winds are crazy though. It looks like a wind tunnel on my street.

get some good rope, put on your riding gear, tie yourself off, and see if you can be a kite.

If that doesn't work, add a tarp. fun for the whole family! [thumbsup]

Would I anchor the tarp to my neck? Seems like you would want to keep the anchor point as high and free of obstructions as possible...  ???

i was thinking shoulders and knees for stability, but if you want to just make sure you don't go flying away, an ankle should do nicely. avoid the neck, it could chafe and then you would have to explain that to people the next time you went into work. talk about awkward...

We got a dismal 1-1/2.

Inches.  In an 2 hours time span.

It's almost gone.
