I was just checking out the Guide to see what time the race is and it looks like the only thing being televised is the 250CC race.  Can anyone else confirm or deny this,m I'm hoping it's just a mistake.

Thanks.

Try your local CBS channel.  Should be on at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.

It looks like the commentators will be Greg White and Kevin Schwantz.  Props to Schwantz for his racing skills, but this is gonna suck.  Guess it's time to get a sub to motogp.com.

Were they just talking about Chris Vermuelen on the Ritalin Suzuki?  [laugh]

Granted, I just got home from a ride right at the start of the race, so my ears may be ringing a little, but it seemed a lot of the pronunciations were a little off.   [bang]

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

Actually, I have to admit that the coverage wasn't all that bad once they abandoned the grade-school teacher approach (this is a motorcycle, it has to lean to turn).  White has a lot more excitement about him that Shaheen, and anything is better than Spencer.  I'll give it a B+.

I give it that because it was a good race.  Just doesn't feel right without foreign accents.  ;D

I thought the commentary was a little over the top, and didn't like it.  It seemed like the whole thing was dumbed down.   :-\

Good race, though.

crashmoto

yes, of course it was dumbed down- this was intended for an audience that is not typically watching grand prix moto racing, or road motorbike racing period... in the end this will bring more popularity to our favorite sport which is a good thing.  Also it is a marketing ramp up for Laguna next weekend which will also be in CBS.

haha... did you watch the major network coverage the last two years? this is AP calculus compared to how much they dumbed down the announcing previously.

a highlight from previous seasons: "when you see the bikes lean, they're turning..."  [roll]

I've been listening to that argument about dumbing it down and it'll be good for our sport since the early 90's.

Greg White needs to spend a day this week with Randy de Puniet and figure out how to say his name. It was funny when Colin said he rode for the Tech Three Yamaha team too.

CBS should do us all a favor and use the British Eurosport audio feed, Toby Moody, Julian Ryder and Randy Mamola are both informative and entertaining!

my thoughts as well.
as a guy who has only watched a few gp races on passing occasion, i found the small bits of explanation, as well as some of the backstory on points and point distribution, to be pretty insightful. i had no problem really getting into this race, it was a lot of fun. i know that i even received some text messages from some people i work with who don't even have bikes that watched the race in its entirety and LOVED it. all in all, i say  [thumbsup]  [bacon]

Why?  You only need to say his name once a race - when he ditches his bike into the gravel trap.

He likely won't be in GP next year anyhow - maybe he should ride with Xaus on the new BMW WSBK effort.

Autostrada Pilot

I don't get speed, and have just accepted the fact that I have to wait until Monday to watch the race (and I DL it).  Wish I had known it was on CBS.  Thanks for the heads up for next week too-I'll keep my eye out for it.

I agree with you for the most part, but under pressure, White had to say it at least twice yesterday and muffed both. I just think there's a much better team out, one that does their homework and doesn't bring it down to the lowest common denominator, the person who's never going to be a real fan anyway.

Both guys were running out of things to say twards the end of the race.

So Kevin..... how many wheels are on the motorcycle? Tell the people about the time you talked to Nicky, tell them that thing he told you about that one time. See that thing they have on over the protective leather suit... it's called a (finger quotes) rain jacket( finger quotes), it keeps the rain from getting them and thier protective suits wet.
Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar kicked me out of the band..... they said I didnt fit the image they were trying to project.

So I went solo.  -Me
