A little bit of JB weld and some polish and it'll be good as new.  [thumbsup]

That part where the con rod sticks through the block....Some fiberglass matt and Marine Tex will fix that right up. Spray some black over it and who would know?

Actually that might almost work. I knew a guy that had a hole in the case of his CR480. He filled the hole with Marine Tex and never had a problem.

I'm curious.
When you can see the big end of a rod poking out of a hole in the block...
Why bother taking the head off when it's still in the car?

I have a running (at the time I pulled it and put in a replacement for the guy) '69 911E flat six with a "fiberglass" repaired case half.  Prolly fire right up  [laugh]
Desmosedici - it's the new Paso (except the bodywork doesn't fit as well)

That 4-cylinder block reminds me of SHATTERING a piston in my 1990 Honda Accord.  That led to clogging the oil pump which led to snapping #4 con rod & taking everything else in there with it.

For some reason, this gives me a new perspective on engine failure.  I guess I always figured broken piston= loose connecting rod=jammed against block=hole in block...I never really figured the rotating mass would spin long enough to see oil starvation...

I think I like this engine forensics thing... [laugh]

I wish I had a picture of that reduction gearbox that destroyed it's self. The was hardly anything recognizeable left inside.

There was a truck tranny a couple days ago - rated for 75k GVWR that was loaded to 110k.... kerblam!
