I'm already looking forward to it. Let me know anytime you need an extra set of hands in the shop, now that I'm free on Saturdays.

Thanks for the offer. I don't have any big projects at the moment. Just taking a couple engines apart and playing around there.  Later ( soon sometime I hope ) I'll be changing cam belts & oil on the 848. I hope to be able to replace the gas tank at the same time to save labor. Tank has to come off anyway to change belts. Don't know if SSD will let me get away with that?
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

FWIW...SSD didn't charge me to swap out any of the three replacement tanks, so I'm assuming the labor is covered under the warranty...

Correct. The labor to instal a new, warranty'd tank is covered by DNA.
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

Three tanks?!  :o

Four replacement tanks in all...three because of ethanol related damage and the original because of a slight mar in the finish from the factory...

I'm not actually worried about facing labor charges but if the swap could work out at the same time that I'm doing the belt work then it would be less running around hassle. That's all. That is to say I'll take off the tank and they can give me back the replacement tank. If they have to do it their way then it's still fine by me but it'll be more efficient the other way.

The documentation that DNA sent out pertaining to this states that the dealership is not allowed to let the customer do the install.  They have the leeway to let you take the tank and coat it, but the tank has to be returned to the dealer for install.

Its been a year without any action from Ducati.

You need to follow up with Arlon, I don't think I waited more than 6 weeks for any of my replacements...

I know and that'll still work for me. It's all good. Just that I'd like to make sure myself. You know how I am.

Original tank lasted about 2 years, second replacement about 6 months...had the third replacement coated and it's still good after 9 months or so...

I'm working on getting the third tank, counting the one that came with the bike as the first one.

Dang so pretty frequent tank changes huh?  :-\ At least it's covered for a extended period of time thanks to the settlement. I know after doing some research, they actually put a smaller capacity tank in my monster so I'm not too sure if I will be able to visibly tell from the tank shifting, etc. I'm also not too sure of the reasoning behind the smaller tank... Maybe that's Ducati's fix for the tank expansion...lol

That's exactly right, that way they don't have to manufacture the tank with a different material, i.e. aluminum...cheap f**kers... [thumbsdown]
