It's probably him but you're right it's certainly possible another case of mistaken identity by "the man"

This will be the interesting part.  The guy did have some SOFesque training, and promised to bring asymmetric warfare upon the LAPD.  There's an ever so slim chance that the remains in the cabin were a plant, and not his.

Reads just like a novel made Hollywood thriller.

Considering how many dark pickup trucks are on the road, I can't believe they didn't get any confirmation of the drivers before shooting.  Piss poor work using a pickup as a finger print.

Meanwhile cops who murder, rape, steal, cover up said crimes, etc get paid leave and a promise that "the matter will be investigated internally" Which almost always winds up with the cop being vindicated.

This country ain't free. If you drive your vehicle 5 miles over the limit, a man with a gun is going to hold you hostage while he writes up your ransom note. (ticket) If you resist being held hostage by this armed thug, the armed thug will place you in chains and indefinitely kidnap you. If you resist being indefinitely kidnapped, you will get murdered.  

Land of the free indeed. Oh I know, the cops a hero and the dead citizen is to blame cuz he shoulda just been a good little sheep.
