Best Motorcycle Tent?

Officially going on a long bike trip in June, so I obviously can't get my mind off of it  ;D

For those that have tent camped during a motorcycle ride, what's your favorite tent for the job? Obviously the smaller pack size the better. I don't care about setup time or assembled size since it will be only me staying in it. Anyone use tents that cover the bike as well?

Thanks!

Weather expected?

For the bike tent-

- But it's BIG. The sleep area is listed as big enough to fit a Queen bed.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

10x21" isn't a bad packed size though. 13lbs is a little heavy...

10x21" - Planning to sleep you doll in there?  ;D

Now 10x21' - that's man sized.

Personally, I'd go with a 1-man. Smaller and lighter to pack. And then if you want a cover for the bike you might get something small from Geza

I just bought a small REI tent that was affordable. I think it's a 2 person because I wanted space for my gear as well (and a typical 2 person tent is really only good for 2 people if the other person is your gf/wife). Nope...don't cover my bike. It gets wet during the day, don't see why wet at night would hurt it.

You'll also need a tarp fr under the tent, and you'll want (maybe not need) an inflatable pad to sleep on.

Tent will probably come with a 'footprint' that will eliminate the need for a tarp - though it's a good item to check on.

10"x21" is it's PACKED dimensions. As in, packed, in it's bag.

But yeah I've got a simple two man tent, only problem I see with it for biking is that it's about 30 inches long when packed, I'd like something narrower to make packing the bike easier. I was hoping someone would have a good suggestion for a tent that gets nice and compact.

So I've got something similar to this:
http://www.rei.com/product/731378/rei-camp-dome-2-tent - listed as packing down to.
7 x 23 inches

What I've got get's a bit smaller as it's a 1.5.. but didn't cost only $100.

If you want to get more info than you'll ever need - go sign up on ADVRider. Plenty of tent and packing talk there. This subject's a lot more in their wheel house.

That's the exact tent I have. Best shot I could find of it on the bike...I thinks it's the teal item, bottom front. Worked fine, but not the smallest.

B and I have a backpacking tent from EMS, Sugar Shack 3, that we use when touring.

(genaric image for the webz, not ours)

We've had it a couple years and love it.  It has a matching foot print that fits in the stuff sack with the tent, so no trap is needed.

Pack size is small enough for us.  Maybe a tad long for the back of a monster, though.

They make a smaller version Sugar Shack 2.

I've got a Eureka Zeus 2 EXO.
Small 2-person tent with a vestibule.
Packs to 6" diameter x 15" long, ~ 4.5 lbs.
Interior is 7'5' x 4'10".

Holds me and all my gear.
It does suffer a bit from condensation issues, not horrible but not as dry as I'd like.
Need to let it dry out a bit in the morning before packing.
I used a cheapo paper-fiber/plastic laminate painters tarp for a footprint.
With careful folding, I could pack it in the original sack with the tent.
Probably increased the pack size to 7".

If you haven't bought a sleeping bag yet, do yourself a favor and get a Big Agnes.
They have a pocket on the bottom that the sleeping pad slips into.
Absolute genius.
Wish I had one.
Other manufacturers may have the same feature, haven't searched that.

Indeed, ADVRider will have a ton of info.
Perhaps too much....
Keep in mind there's a large BMW contingent, so packing size may not get so much emphasis.

A member here, eric, has done some epic tours on a Monster, his last was from California to above the arctic circle.

I've seen those at the BMW dealer.

A bit large to be packing on a Monster, but camping in style to be sure.
