Car alarms set off by sound

Yesterday, at the end of a group lunchtime ride, after lunch, I started up my ST2 and the van parked next to us gave a little chirp.  It's been a while since somebody's car alarm did that, so I revved the bike a little to see if it would do it again.  It did, so I revved it a whole bunch until the car alarm was going off full blast.  If the owner had been around, I would have given him a rude gesture too.

I don't even have loud pipes, just lightly modified to let the wonderful Ducati sounds out.

When I used to have the 1997 M900 with the Ducati Performance carbon slipons, I would often hear cars beep at me when I passed them, especially in parking garages.  Unless I was in a hurry, I would often go back and rev the bike about ten times to give the alarm a workout.  If anyone ever glared at me, they received the rude gesture as well.  The best effect is achieved by wheelying out of there after making the gesture.

I hate car alarms that are sensitive to sounds like that.  If you do too, help correct the situation by setting them off as often as possible.  :e:v  :e:v  :e:v

TCK!

Yeah there used to be a Porsche down the street from my house that would blip as I downshifted come to a stop sign, but the owner moved so no chirping alarms for me :D

Happens to me on every ride! No warning chirps here, I send em into full-on panic mode with my "Full" system. I laugh my ass off everytime too.  :e:v There is someting to be said for the "pulse" of the Ducati, cuz my cruiser is a twin with a deep Muzzy 2into1 and it hardly ever sets em off, and it can be loud when on the gas. Too much fun!  ;:|

I get 5-6 alarms every time I ride around SF. The Monster seems to get more of them than the Supersport, but they both make overly-sensitive alarms cry for mercy  mo:t:

For awhile I was thinkin i would do a "tally" on my tank or cowl but after setting off so many I bailed on the idea. I'm already an "ace" in "kills" so the heck with it. No one would "get it" anyway...  ???

I enjoy doing that to the neighbors. There are 3 car alarms that go off every time. I believe they hate me already. Specially at 7am.
But I really can’t do much about it, my bike is just loud..

I hope they understand.   :-\

I'm with you. I hate sensitive car alarms. I am not sure how that helps me rationalize setting them off all the time, but somehow I do it.
A friend and I went down Montgomery in SF one night and we could hear them going off a couple blocks over. That was fabulous.  ;:|

its especially funny when you sent one off that's on a POS ford escort that looks like its 100 years old. it like 'why the make the beast with two backs do you need alarm'

I figure that if the car alarm goes off enough times either the owner will wise up and change the setting so it doesn't do that anymore, or the battery will go dead and it will stop going off anyway.

I keep the baffles in my current exhausts so I haven't set off any touchy alarms lately. I used to have some old school GP pipes on my EX500 and it would set off anything in a two block radius. Those pipes were crazy fun.

Had a neighbor... I was about 19 the... that had an alarm that was so sensitive, that a strong breeze was enough to ripple the convertable top, and set it off. :bang So, as any self respecting neighbor would do, I got a box of tennis balls, and every time he'd go back inside after checking his beloved car, I'd nail one off the bumper and set it off again. Never gave him more than 10 minutes' rest between strikes. :e:v

After about 2 days of this, he finally got so fed up, he switched it off. Funny thing is, none of the other neighbors ratted me out to him. Guess they figured out what I was up to, and just let it ride. ;:|

brilliant!

My Monster came with insanely loud pipes already on it. I set off alarms all the time, just riding around the city. Funniest part is I don't like loud bikes myself.
