"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Want another reason to love this place? Shortly after she graduated last month, our oldest daughter's college plans got a hearty scrambling, when it simultaneously became apparent that we weren't going to be able to close the funding gap on her first choice school, but her second choice school sent her a very attractive offer. Unfortunately, she's never seen the college, it's on the other side of the country, and the clock is ticking on their financial aid offer.

Later this evening, Statler (whom I've had the pleasure of meeting just once, an evening in Fells Point that I largely remember) is meeting her at the airport. His family is giving her a place to stay, taking her off to her college tour & a bit of a look at the town that will likely be her home for the next four years.

I want to give a big public thank you both to him for such generosity, and to him & his fellow flounders for creating a place that attracts such amazing folks.

THANK YOU

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.
