Currently rocking an HJC FS-15. In a couple months it will be "expired".
So im looking at the Shark S700 and the Bell RS1. Never wore either brand. My head is a "neutral" shape.
I've read all kinds of good info about Bell recently and Im eyeing the Shark bc my brother who races stands by them.
Any fhe with these?
Thx yall.

I'm interested in Shark too.  If you find an NYC dealer let me know.  The Bell is a nice helmet, but has less cheek pad than I prefer.

No dealers. These are ebay items. There are a bunch of new Shark s700's for a little over $100(!)

Scratch that. The seller just bumped the price considerably. Boo...

What's an "expired" helmet?

A lot of manufactures recommend replacement after 5 years, something to do with the EPS not being as effective...

I read something here and saved the article but its been so long the link doesn't work anymore.

If its a SNELL rated helm it will have a date printed marking its impending death date.

Ducati is the pretty girl that can't walk in heels without stumbling. I still love her.

Each brand (and model) helmet fits differently.  I'd suggest trying some on first before settling on a brand.

I have a fairly neutral head, maybe slightly towards oval.  Just went through this, tried on about 100 helmets... lol... which unfortunately you really need to do because fitment is the most important point to getting a helmet.

I fell in love with the Arai Vector.  Great helmet.

... the Bell RS1. ...

I also have an FS-15 like you, but I have a couple years before I'll seriously consider a new lid.

One thing I like about the Bell is that you can get their Transitions face shield... UV makes them tint like on eyeglasses. I've tried on the Bell, and it fit pretty well. The shield is a pricey little mofo, but I've been caught out after dark without by clear backup shield, and that sucks. I thought I read somewhere that it has some anti-fog capability, but I don't see that on their website.

I have yet to find a helmet with a flip-down visor that doesn't sit in the middle of my line of sight, so the full tint shields are the better choice for me.

Went with the Shark S700. Ordered from SBTG, size large. It's snug but not uncomfortable. Very low profile and very light. Inner sun shield is pretty cool and wind noise is quite low. At a $200 price point the value is great for what you get.
