This is a moderately bizarre request, but.....I need someone to buy and ship me some salsa. A very specific salsa that my girlfriend is obsessed with. It can only be got at a lovely restaurant called EL COMPADRE! There are two locations at either end of Sunset Blvd.

I'm trying to get this in time for July 19th - her birthday. Needless to say whoever helps me out with this will certainly be wingman'ing me to make a happy girl!

Looking for either a ginormous size jar, or several small ones if that's all they have. I actually don't even know if they sell it in jars at all, so here's hoping.

You will be compensated for purchase price, shipping cost, plus say...$50 for your time and efforts?

Let me know!

Have you tried calling the restaurant?  Could probably buy a case for $50 plus shipping.

I just spoke with them, and they actually don't sell it in jars cause they make it fresh...only take-out containers, so if anyone is actually up for this they'll have to do some additional work of packing it a little better!  UPS sells some dry ice packaging which will keep it cold, and shipping same-day Air shipping will be necessary.  I'm open to discussing it with anyone that's willing to help!   ;D

You probably don't want this done until 7/17 or so or it will spoil.

You could always heat the salsa in a pan then put it in a mason jar...

This.

Wouldn't be a big deal to 'can' it properly for the trip.

most valid response thus far!

if it is going international for example, this could make a world of difference....

and another +1 to the canning it idea for easier shipping for dealing with varying temps.

Funny... I used to do this for a friend who moved from Dallas, TX to Evergreen, CO. We all loved eating at Javier's restaurant here in Dallas and they make homemade kickass salsas. One red and one tomatillo/green salsa. Absolutely awesome!!

My ex-wife and I would go to dinner there equipped with 2 one quart sized Tupperware containers. We would ask the waiter at the end of the meal to fill each one with the red and green sauce. They didn't charge much for the sauce.

We would freeze them once we got home and the next day I would pack them with either dry ice or "blue ice" freezable blocks in a cheap, small cooler and Fed-Ex them to my friend in Evergreen.

It always pissed him off when his wife got home first, thawed them out and chowed down with local tortilla chips! [laugh]
