risk v reward

what chance will i get caught

in australia in the state of nsw we have what is called skyes law

a baby died after the vehicle was hit by a vehicle in a police chase

and this brought about skyes law named after the baby

possibly 3 years jail penalty

i dont care if you have been a mechanic for 10 years doing something for a long time does not make you good at it, take my gf for an example shes been walking for 28 years and still manages to fall over all the time.

Much higher penalty here in SoCal. That is vehicular manslaughter. If the driver is already committing a felony at the time, it could be homicide.

Edit: Oh, I see. That is three years just for the chase. Much more than the few months at most someone will spend in prison here for a chase.

thats it , just for doing the runner

if you kill someone then you would be on other charges

but the way the judicial system is you dont really get much

the balance between offences is lacking

you wouild prob find that most people caught havent got the 3 years

there is plenty of paedo's that would be lucky to have served 3 years in jail let alone people
spending 3 years for outrunning the police

You guys are missing the point.

A few hundred bucks for a ticket or maybe even a warning vs. dead

A few years back I was on a group ride, I ended up splitting off because my wife was riding with me and the rest were hauling ass. Turns out they ended up getting chased and ran from the LEO. One guy wiped out and crashed into a guard rail. Last I heard he had numerous injuries, the worst of which was severe head injury and the loss of a foot. The ticket would have been a lot cheaper  [bang]

Now I go to the track and encourage others to do the same.

Hard to go wrong with that logic

Stopped every time and been let go with a warning every single one. Was not doing anything stupid or going too fast, but I will never run. I owe it to my family to torment them for as long as possible.

Same here. I have been given some 'slack' in terms of the specifics of the ticket, but never been given a warning. I will always stop when directed to.

It's funny.  I've been stopped many times.  Tickets issued?  2.  Times stopped?  Um...  Not sure I should disclose that.  Either way, just being real, and taking responsibility goes a long way instead of some bullshit.  I crashed running when I was young and dumb at nearly 100MPH and am lucky to be alive.  I learned a lesson then.
