In the June issue of MCN, pics of a Ducati Monster 1198 have been taken.  A liquid -cooled new gen Monster.....

From the article using Google Translate:

As you can see from the picture, it is a model with a liquid-cooled engine, which returns after being used for the last time with the model S4Rs 2007. This is the Testastretta 11 ° Diavel and Multistrada 1200's, but from the king of Borgo Panigale there's also other technical and aesthetic solutions, such as the discharge from the long ducts, type Diavel, the sided swingarm, Trellis frame ... more info we do not are, but on the July Motorcycling deepen this supermonster anyway (who knows how it will be called ...) from the point of view of technical, commercial and aesthetic. For example, it seems entirely plausible that there will be a lot of electronics, maybe even in the suspension, while we believe that the look will be quite different from that of the prototype, very camouflaged. Noted, however, that this bike seems a bit '... more abundant in size compared to the current Monster?

I would rock one. Talk about a wheelie machine!

So are they getting rid of the Streetfighters now?  The bike in the pic sure looks like the Streetfighter at my local dealer...

It's possible. But that is for sure a monster. Front end and tail are identical. They even kept the headlight. I can't see the frame so no dice there.

There's a discussion speculating on Ducatis line in the next few years. I'd expect the street fighters to go away. They are one of, or are the lowest sellers by model. Monster, is it's been since it hit the market sells the most units. The multi 1200, despite the price tag is next up - selling lots of those.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

Size of the radiator says 821 to me... but then there's that oil cooler. So it might be a bigger engine using a smaller rad, with the oil cooler to supplement.

Certainly more plausible. An 1198 in a small bike like a monster would just be insanity.

Well they stuck the Testa engine in the S4Rs... And they do have that 11degree 1200 engine right now that's seeing use in the Multi and Diavel. Add in some of the electronics suite and it might be a go'er. Though... that set up might lead to dislocated arms. I got quite a surprise, enough to "OH SHIT!" in my helmet, when I whacked the throttle of the Diavel in sport mode and it TOOK the F off!

The camo is pretty funny/useless on a naked bike.....its only really hiding the frame and the shape of the tank

I like it. I like the wheels (probably won't be on the production version). This is going to be interesting....

In order to make it even relatively streetable, needs wheelie control, a longer swingarm, 6inch rear wheel and a 190 tire. And even then it would be a tire eating beast.

Looking forward to seeing it come together and be debuted.  Curious about the position of the oil cooler and the wheels.  Like the wheel choice they have on now but the final production will tell the final story.

I wonder if they'll use the plastic tank?  [roll]
