Getting a plane in the air AND staying there with some degree of control was a project my father and I never quite finished during my childhood years. It wasn't that we didn't try...

So, about two years ago I bought a noob electric motor glider and we went out to try again - probably for the last time since his health wasn't good. I will never forget the smile on his face, dementia gone for a moment - he was obviously as happy for our success as I was. Major bucket list thing, check!

The plane has been on a shelf since then, but today I thought it was a good idea to tape my little spy cam on and give it a go again. This plane weighs 3 oz and should only fly on days without any wind. Not so today...

I remember reading the posts on here about a treadmill helping planes to take off  8)

I don't think a treadmill would help.

Maybe an elliptical? I hear there's less impact, which you obviously have enough of.  ;D

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

I think with you as the pilot, a catapult or perhaps even a trebuchet might have helped but definitely not a treadmill.  [laugh]

What goes up, must come down. I need to get the styroplane I built up. I kept running in to weather and other issues and never got it up. I think you have inspired me.

We shall never surrender  ;D

I don't like to give up and now tech is actually helping - the system is called SAFE and will limit the effect of my mistakes. Take off is almost automatic and flight is stable. It works!
