Style & Performance passenger pegs review <pics>

I know a lot of us have ditched the fugly chicken wing rearsets on the 2009+ Monsters only to be left with no passenger pegs for 2up riding.  Style & Performance of Italy makes these universal pegs for the new gen monsters to solve this problem.  They've been around a while but I've yet to see good pictures or a single review.  They are $240 shipped from their eBay store which is reasonable.  I have S4R rearsets so I had zero options to begin with for passenger pegs.

The Pros:
- wonderful Italian craftsmanship - nice anodized black aluminum construction
- Universal fit i.e. you don't need any specific rearset (Rizoma, Woodcraft) to use these
- relatively cheap compared to the dedicated pegs for Rizoma, etc...
- removable in a snap for solo riding
- Girl says its "comfy" back there lol

The Cons:
- non-existent customer support, I mean literally NO ONE will call back or respond to emails..ever
- spacers too large and bolts too short
- looks kinda dorky when on

well packaged...

Installed.  They mount to the crossbrace holes in the subframe.  The countersunk bolts were too short, had to buy longer ones  [bang]

4 bolts and the pegs are off for solo riding.  This is whats left...carbon fiber not included  ;D

This spacer didn't fit, I had to dremel all 4 down which was a PIA...

Conclusion:  For the price I'm happy.  The new bolts were cheap and the dremeling kinda sucked but the Italians aren't known for making our life's easier right?  Good CNC quality and construction so that is what really counts - just expect to buy some new hardware and sand those spacers....and don't expect any support from the factory.  I'm very happy and so is the better half!

Just a caveat on something.

S&P had one of their main shop guys get hurt in a moto accident this summer.
They are swamped and unfortunately responses to point of sale customers is a bit behind (finally spoke to the main guy)

They supply a lot of OEM components to companies as well so their large volume stuff took some precedent to avoid customers down the line not receiving their stuff.

How do I know this? They are sponsoring our land speed racing team, Team UnorthoDux, and unfortunately due to the accident, we may not have our custom rearsets ready for this year's race. But the guy is going to be ok, just broke his arm, but as a machine shop operator, that basically puts him down for the count until he heals.

S&P custom made triples for me during my build and helped out more than one guy on here with custom parts.

Also, the style of the splayed out stance was designed for the 796/696/1100 (non-evo) exhausts.

Just felt people needed to know the full info.

Storm...it is a damn shame you're clear across the country man.  I like your bike's style.

This is going on my list of "future mods."  I cannot stand the chicken wings.  Very helpful info and pics.

And, before you ask, no. Unfortunately, I still haven't finished my headlight project - baby on the way and my fabricator having shop problems have kept that project in the "pending" column.

Thanks Storm, (and Raux).  New rearsets are one of the first mods I'm planning on once I get my bike on Wednesday, *fingers crossed*, but didn't want to lose the ability to carry a passenger.  This is exactly what I was looking for.

btw i think Motowheels carries them as well

Actually I called them and they don't. I'm looking for these as well as I also run the S4R rearsets for trackdays, and would be nice to have a set of passenger pegs for the occasional date on the back. :p

So far no luck on their ebay store as well as having any distributors on this side of the Atlantic...

I'll considering myself lucky I even got them in the first place.  They took about 3 months to ship after buying them from their ebay store.

Raux.. i keep doing your mods!  this is getting monotonous (spelling).  This will probably be next.  do you have any pics of this setup?

Hey Storm,  I kinda don't get the pegs.  There are only four bolts to remove the stock ones and once the gal is on the back who cares what the pegs look like.
Also with all the work you went to making that tail clean, it looks odd to see the brackets hanging down.

I am confused; Are they more comfy for the passenger?  To me it looks like money spent on something you already had and that IMO looked better.

I like honest feedback and when I do something to my bike I love hearing the thoughts from all those that care to comment.  So please, no offense intended  [beer]

Feel free to PM me if needed, otherwise you will find me elsewhere.

Many go with aftermarket rider pegs for clearance and adjustability
only a few have passenger options and are expensive
these are relatively inezpenaive are easily removeable and fit stock exhaust cans

I see the confusion; you have an 1100evo that doesn't really have the problem these pegs solve.  The 1100evo doesnt have the "chicken wing" rearsets and has separate passenger pegs that are fairly easy to remove...you have it good my friend  [thumbsup]  This is not the case with the 696/796/1100 (non-evo).  We have to deal with the fugly rearsets with rider and passenger pegs integrated.  Once you eliminate the chicken wings, as many of us have done, you lose the passenger pegs along with them.  This is really just an option for the new gen monster non-1100evo bikes.  Clear as mud?

Skybarney

Thanks!  I was curious as I was not seeing it.  That being said the giant wings for the pax pegs were pretty bad ( :
