Hey There,
Tomorrow morning I am starting out on a 4 day trip from Coeur d' Alene, ID to Yuma, AZ.
So far the I only have two planned stops: Tomorrow Boise, ID and then SLC, UT on wed (and a stupid amount of fuel stops:) )  No pictures yet, hopefully I will get some up tomorrow night.

 

I'll be in Yuma Thursday.

Are you going down to see Jabba and the Sarlac pit in the sand dunes?  Only reason to go down that way.

Looks like rain today. 

Sorry I haven't posted anything. Currently in Flagstaff after a 500+ mile run from salt lake. Will pos t pics and review Sat. Once in Yuma.

Late this afternoon, dust storms, rain and hail. Although going from 110+ to 75 has been pretty nice.

Well I'm finally getting around to doing the ride report. SO to recap, I rode from C'dA, ID to Yuma, AZ it was about 1,650 miles give or take.I had a blast and would turn around and do it again tomorrow, I saw some beautiful country and my crappy cell phone pics in no way do it justice. I don't really remember the route I took and am too lazy to retrace Basically I used google maps on my cell phone and hit the "avoid highways" option and set out.  

Day 1 Coeur d' Alene to Boise

Stopped at the Worley fire station about 45 minutes outside of Cd'A to put on a layer, morning was a little colder than I expected:) Figured I better get a picture.


Took an offshoot road on a whim and found this place in Keuterville. Who would have thought there would be a monastery in Idaho?



There was a cool little museum there as well with a some items from the monastery and other items from Idaho's early settlers. Like this buffalo hide coat worn by one of the town settlers.


I continued south, and could have taken a picture every step of the way absolutely spectacular ride. If you are ever in the area you can't go wrong taking 95 from Cd'A to Boise, breathtaking! There was so much scenery I could have spent a week on this first day.

Overlooking Lewiston, ID


I pulled off this scenic overlook and saw the winding road below. I's called Spiral Road or Old Spiral Road I can't remember. Anyway I left the main road and took that one down into Lewiston. What a great time! Tons of 25-35 mph corners and switchbacks. Really showed me what good, smooth, throttle control I don't have lol


I stopped in Lewiston for fuel and to find a new bite valve for my camelback since it broke somewhere along the way. I also lost my sunglasses out of a pocket and the mount for my contour failed back at the monastery so my plans for a video of the trip were squashed early on. Great first day, but 3 problems in the first couple of hours was not a great beginning.

On the way from Lewiston to McCall I saw this landmark which I thought was pretty cool


I made it to Boise and my first stop was to see Jeff at Monster Parts and I forgot to get a picture of that most hallowed ground   As anyone who follows this site has heard, Jeff is a fantastic guy. He gave me a glass of water and a shop tour while listening to me ramble. Also gave me a coozie and kick stand puck! It's been said many times, but I will say it again: If you are looking for stuff for your monster give Jeff your first look, he is an outstanding guy and his customer service is second to none. At this point I was pretty tired as there was a lot hard riding on the way down, lost of corners, logging trucks and grain trucks. No downtime to drone on this leg!

I was lucky enough to be put up by two friends I met while working over seas. Keith and Mei opened their home to me despite the fact that we haven't seen each other in about 5 years and they had a 3 month old baby. Makes me feel very lucky to have friends like that.

I missed taking pictures of a ton of stuff on the way down. The Camas valley and the portion of the ride along the Salmon river were outstanding too beautiful to describe. I'm going to take a bit of a break before I go into day 2. The amount of pictures falls off significantly as I was having so much fun riding I hated to stop, and by day four the end was in sight so I pretty much hammered it.
