I'll be autocrossing tomorrow...have a good ride...

Didn't they just have an event two weeks ago when you took your grandson?
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

MD, r u  [Dolph]?

Yup.  However we will have to stop at the shop before we head out.  I have to make some slight fueling adjustments.  Shouldn't take more than a half hour.  OK?  I say we 'cause I'll need you to run throttle while I work.  OK?

The ride was cut short yesterday.  The BMW started making a gawd awful racket when coming down Ward to JJ. Did it two times on ward and I even though I stopped both times I couldn't figure out where it was coming from.  Did it once on the way back to the shop with Jing riding along behind me.  He even heard it over the exhaust and dry clutch of his bike.  Then it never made it again.  I reset some idling fueling and some midrange.  The idling adjustment worked good but richening up some midrange only brought some of the backfire pop off throttle instead of making it better.  Guess you can get backfire from too much gas as much as too little.  [roll]

Anyway that horrible noise did not happen all the way home and still good after a romp through Norfolk.  Who the F knows? Not good I tell you and now I only know something, whatever it is, is waiting to happen. Dang!  [bang]

Thanks to Jing for having some patience and playing wingman.  [thumbsup]

Bummer!...hope it doesn't lead to anything serious...

It's all good.  Must be the coffee, keeping me calm and focused.  I even noticed a nose piece falling off MD's shades while following him out of gas station.

And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

It's OK.  I knew someone would go there and I knew who that someone would be.   ;D   I set it up by even bringing it up.  Rather by even buying the thing.  It is what it is. I'll get through it.  Just hope that if, or when, the catastrophic failure comes that it won't dump me at high speed.  Again, it is what it is and it will be what it will be.

Do you really feel that a catastrophic failure is in the future?  I'm really hoping that it's somehow some kind of one time freak occurrence and that the bike is not going to grenade on you.  Very strange that it would make such a horrific noise and not be done on the spot, rather than just motor on like nothing happened.  Any clues at all as to the potential problem?

And as far as buying the beemer goes, it's a beautiful well equipped bike and if you hadn't made the leap, I might have.

I am a tad perplexed as well.  There have been a couple of suggestions on a beemer board that the cam chain tensioner might have lost pressure.  Very possible.  I knew when I saw the bike that I had to make a play for it.  It's just a test..........

Whatever it is, here's hoping that it's a semi quick fix and a not so expensive one...
