I think to myself that my oldest daughter is her age.

And then I think to myself that my oldest daughter will be entering pharmacy school next fall.

And then I realize that my 18yo idolizes twats like this.

Then I cry myself to sleep realizing that my oldest daughter is in the vast minority and that the vast majority reflect the moods of my 18yo.

Kudos to the Smith's for raising kids who aren't impressed with the performance of Miley.
Shame on the Cyrus' for raising a kid who feels the need to put on this kind of performance to get attention.

Stella : I would dare to make a bet that if you seen the videos of what the Smiths kids are listening to you would be appalled, maybe not so "stupid"  but young rap crap is just as bad with a different beat.  But maybe not, you never know, I have lost a few bets lately.

You guys sound like a bunch of old people!  [laugh] There have always been performers that did outlandish and shocking things...and there always will be. Off the top of my head...Elvis, Alice Cooper, Ozzie, Madonna, Jim Morrison, etc. The world isn't coming to an end, and the kids today will be fine.  [laugh]

Miley still sucks...but geez. If her (or anyone else's) performance creates a problem with kids, then blame the parents, not the performer. The old people have always worried about the young people and their influences. I remember growing up hearing how Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Twisted Sister, Metallica, etc. were a bunch of devil worshippers...their albums had subliminal messages, and would make you do scary things if you played them backwards, blah blah.  [roll] Congress even invited Dee Snider in to testify about lyrics (an he killed it  [thumbsup])

It was all BS then, and it's BS now.

This.

Anyone remember Prince's performance of "Get Off" @the MTV awards back in the 90's?  He was wearing assless chaps while a full blown orgy was happening on stage.

I'm going to venture a guess that the millenials aren't well represented here (or they're not frequent posters) to add another perspective to Miley's performance that doesn't make ours so get off my lawn-ish.

So yeah, we ARE a bunch of old people!     [laugh]

And, FWIW, my millenial nieces (21 and 18) weren't impressed either.   [thumbsup]

I see your point and have to agree, to a point.   But where is the limit to the wow factor?   When are we going to start seeing performers cutting off body parts?  Do they really need their ring fingers?   Van Gogh didn't need his ear. And he was one talented mother make the beast with two backser!

Here's my next point;  what happened to talent and ability?

On a different note,  I just discovered wtso.com which is the source of this post.

Oh, and get the make the beast with two backs off my lawn!

I just started reading Denis Miller on sit-on-my-facebook. He referred to miley sirus' tongue as the prop used by Bruce Willis in Die Hard to jump out of one windw of a multi story building  and fall into a window a few stories down window.

I can get away with just about everything.

I also watch the orgy performance again. MTV did a masterful job at only showing a little bit of what was going on behind Prince. They were not shy about showing his bare ass.

IZ, want to weigh in on this?
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.
