With two  [leo]  hits on the Lake City run we need to get an alternate run. I will always do the Gateway run since I have yet to encounter traffic or  [leo].
Suggestions?

Doesnt get much better than Gateway.  Rode it last thurs. Saw 2 cars between Naturita and Gateway.  Nice canyon riding for sure.  Its on the border of two counties and very rural, so uncommon to run into the sheriff.  Toward Moab is a option but not a very good one IMO; pretty boring long straightaway through paradox, but followed by nice twisties in La Sal.  Utah staties suck and they are abundant between La Sal and Moab.  Dove Creek is another turnoff after Naturita, but dont know much about it.

Its unfortunate that the stretch between Montrose and Cimmaron is patrolled by pricks, cause a ride to Crested Butte would be nice.  [bang]

Yes, I'm yet to get hold of Mike, but Brent and I are in place. Thanks! [thumbsup]

I usually don't speed, but when I do I want to do it in a place with low to no traffic and with low  [leo] presence.  ;D [laugh]
Maybe Derek can help us with local research for proper routes.

My only encounters with LEOs in my years of DITR have only been along the Lake City route and on the way down/back to Denver.

Of course, if you just take Engineers Pass over to Lake City, you are more likely to NOT see LEOs.  [cheeky] [beer]

Drew Keith, my friend from Arizona who stayed with us this year, posted a link to his Smugmug photo gallery.  For those who might be interested, photos can be viewed and/or downloaded at

The link doesn't work from my work computer, but hopefully it'll work for you.  Our network blocks most social networking.  Thankfully they missed DMF!  [thumbsup]
