~~~SNIP~~~
We had to slab back on 97 so rode silly quick in a fairly straight line.  It showed cord 100miles from home  ;)
~~~SNIP~~~

Just to make sure I fully understand.

You "rode silly quick" down to the cords on a rental bike with a passenger?

In Germany we had a local DOC guy get killed hitting a deer at about 100mph

Be happy indeed.

Where I live.... at 110mph.... on any road of any kind regardless of the posted speed limit...

110mph would have my driving licence instantly canceled - there and then by the roadside...

And the bike impounded.

Phone a friend... call a taxi... or walk home.

Yep, I live in the same state.

Here you spend almost as much time with your eyes on the speedo as you do the road!

On a side note a friend of mine did GPS confirmed 198 mph on a turbo charged busa, at night, on wet roads. He said it was not until 5th gear that the back end finally hooked up properly!

Nope you misunderstand,  We rode silly quick until I saw the wear.  We were 100 miles from home when I saw the tell tall horizontal lines on the center of the tire, no cord yet.  The cord did not expose until just about 30 miles from home.  Once I saw cord we actually rode under the speed limit.  Always good to be careful.

I love to ride, been doing it for 30+ years.  I am no fool and I know to check my tires at every stop.  30 easy miles on cord was no big deal.  Heck it was not even down to the cord all the way around  ;D   Besides all that it was still safer than sitting by the side of the road North of Sacramento.  [roll]

Duc,  The non stop 30mph through any kind of small town and the 50mph limits for miles on end on open roads drove me nuts.  Granted we were there during the Labor Day weekend.  Although the two days on the coast prior to the weekend were amazing, we rode the Multistrada like we stole it.  This was a brand new tire 2350 miles prior....

I live about 5 or 6 blocks from business 97

And that's not even cord to be worried about. You can still burn rubber on that for quite a while before it bursts.

Glad you got off without tkt.

They are jerks if you are the "wrong" complexion.  I am amazed how many ppl are let off for similar incidents and yet for lesser offense on bikes the "wrong" complexion get the brunt.  Just stating reality.  Been riding long enough to see the difference.

Seems I have been pushing my luck. I headed out to the airport for a flight to DC and did not notice the 35mph limit and got pulled over again  [bang]  This time 30mph over in my Dodge truck and, wait for it.......  NO TICKET!

I am really starting to love these California LEO's  [thumbsup]

That being said I need to slow down.  This kinda luck can't last.
