I want a Sport Classic with Ti frame, hand made aluminum tank and seat and Ti exhaust, with a 1100 EVO engine. I'd probably end up selling it but I sure would like to build it.

Necks?

I seem to be lost in translation here (again)  :-\

Steering head stems??

Yea that seem to the animal. I want to see what he's going to do with the steering head that his wife doesn't know about.

So what do you think it would cost to build a second one?

A lot! LOL Need to find a wrecked EVO. Not sure what to do about the swingarm but I am bet we can come up with something.

You did take his man card right?

Should have heated it up and branded him with it. No card revocation necessary, plain to see. ;D

This is a customer project. We're building a Ti frame and custom exhaust for him. I want the same thing only with an EVO 1100 engine. After a quick measurement I think the S4R swingarm will work on the EVO case. I may need a pivot shaft made, but I know someone that could make it  ;)

Interesting. I always thought that TI frames were the bees knees. But after chatting with Walt Siegel he explained to me the benefits of chromoly over TI. Seems it doesn't like to return to its original shape after flexing. Zat true? If so, then why use it?

You're the second person I've heard that from. Walt sells chromoly frames , so there you go.

Titanium is a lot more springy than steel. Talk to anybody that makes titanium bicycle frames. Titanium bicycle frames generally have a smoother ride. This spring is not necessarily good in a motorcycle frame. So you can use a thicker wall or larger diameter to stiffen it up. The Ducati frames are great because they are so well triangulated, a really good design. The good thing about titanium is that you can use a thicker wall and still cut the weight of the frame almost by half and have a stronger frame. To say that the frame flexes and doesn't return to its original shape is BS.

So what are the advantages of chromoly? I don't think it's worth the effort on a Ducati frame. Chromoly weighs exactly the same as mild steel. So the weight savings has to come from using a thinner wall tube. The factory tubes are usually around .078 wall thickness. 20ft of 1" tube with a .078 wall is 15.3lbs. If you went down to a .065 wall the tube would weigh 12.9lbs. So you would save approximately 2.5lbs by using a thinner wall chromoly tube. The tube is the only place you could save weight with the chromoly. The steering head, engine mounts, etc. are still going to weigh the same as the stock frame.
With titanium you could use the same example and go up a wall thickness to 0.83. That same tube would weigh 9.3lbs. Which do you think is stronger? Chromoly with a .065 wall or Grade 9 CWSR titanium with a .083 wall?

Here's a picture of Fast Franks bike with a titanium frame I made. It took 14lbs of weight off the bike and he did the fastest lap times he's ever done at Roebling Road. He will be racing it at Daytona next month.

.......

He Man put an Evo in his S2R - don't think he had problems with swingarm to cases - better check though.

Makes sense. By that logic I would suggest that Walt sell Ti frames as well then.

Franks bike is one of the most beautiful rides I've ever seen. Wow.
