I don't think it was something you sign up for. It's something he worked up to over decades of other crazy shit.

It was all about already being one of Red Bulls elite sponsored BASE jumpers.  I have done some stuff for Red Bull and they are fun as heck to work with.  We will be putting in an advertising proposal with them fairly soon as I just got USCG approval to build the worlds first offshore aircraft carrier for commercial balloon rides.  They love things that are firsts! 
Flat out amazing how much money they make every day on energy drinks.  I also worked on a couple of the Red Bull Pinzgauers when they were using them to promote the stuff.

The money spent (rumor) on this jump was nearly $40,000,000...............
