Nice, but the engine layout.

Yes, it's such hell to have to remove ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to get to the valves for a simple locknut/screw adjustment.  :-*  [drink]

However, the 1993 900 Monster was a game changer.
Did someone say cough, Teutonic rip off, cough, cough? ;D

I agree with half of this.
Yes, the Monster was a game changer in 1993.

No, it's not a ripoff.
The basic concept of a cafe racer moto was not conceptualized by Ducati in 1993. It goes much further back than 1993.

Good on BMW for recognizing the retro trend and delivering.

And I think I've been reading in other forums that BMW will price this below the 1200R model, so less than $14k.

I long for a screw locknut adjustment.  [evil] Last time was 1991 on an old Bonneville.

Yeah you're right Pedrobot, it looked like a rip off from the front, but not from the side.

Which does not make it any easier to the eye.

The proportion is all wrong [thumbsdown] , its quite UGLY  [puke].

Agreed.

I think it's mainly the tank with which I have an issue.  The Sport 1000 was much prettier.

I prefer the look of my Monster over the nineT.

That's ok, I thought the 1/2 Trellis Monsters were pretty ugly for a long time too... I still think the full-trellis/round-headlight models are better looking.

At least this BMW has a good looking headlight.  :D

Such a steep price tag for that Horex.

wow no kidding. Strange design for a 160HP bike also, no protection whatsoever. I just thought it was funny how these 2 German brands put out these 2 extremely similar bikes at the same time.

I dig the new Beemer.  [thumbsup]  Would rock that in a heartbeat.  May have to go try one on.

That Horex VR6 is cool, too.  Mostly for the motor... I loved the 2.8 VR6 in my '98 GTI (just didn't really like the porky car wrapped around it).  I bet it sounds killer with a set of opened-up pipes.

It's too bad that the Beemer isn't more like the prototype R90S,

Agreed! That's gorgeous and would likely get me to add a fourth air-cooled twin variant to the fleet!

Cool, only 20 years after Ducati did it, BMW is presenting a Monster. Just in time ...  [thumbsup] [Dolph] [clap] ;D
