Not to mention the work that would be required to strip down an 1199 and swap the old bits into the new pierbon frame.

Will it be heavier? Probably
Will it ride any better? Probably not.
Is it more aesthetically pleasing? Arguable.

Huh... it's cool, in a "because we can" sorta way.

Aesthetically, it would be better if they trimmed some of the bodywork back so you could actually see and appreciate it.  Hidden under the plastic, I'm not entirely sure what the point is for something that will invariably be a *very* expensive mod.

   I wish I fit on one of those... or the F4.  There have been some very reasonably priced used examples around here lately.  Sadly, my landing gear are way too long.  Knees knock about above/outside of the cutouts on the tank, and the foot controls are unworkable.  They are gorgeous bikes and sound incredible.  If I was independently wealthy, I'd buy a clean example to put on a stand as moto-art.  Preferably an F4 Senna, if I could find one.

Yeah, it's tiny.

Even for me. The F3/800 sounds like the perfect track toy though.

I agree on the heavier likelihood...
aesthetically pleasing is a personal viewpoint, so I agree there also...
on the riding/handling better...I think it depends on the rider and their personal usage and how aggressive they are with it for to really distinguish differences plus and or minus. Most that have an 1199, probably aren't fully utilizing beyond 70% of the machines capabilities.

just cause it doesnt look like a supermodel, doesnt mean it's not pretty - I find beauty in that functionality, and I really like the the fact that it looks like a machine - afterall that's what it is first and foremost.  I will give you that it's not sexy like a 1098/1198, but those steathy lines remind me of a fighterjet and that does something for my soul too. I like that there's nothing else out there that looks like it.  it'd be easy for someone not in the know to mistake an mv or perhaps to a slightly lesser extent an aprilia, especially the superbikes, for a duc.  nobody's mistaking a ktm for any of those, and vis versa. I think that's pretty cool.

 The problem with the KTM is that the only dealers in this area are dirt bike specialists and they don't seem to have much interest in road bikes. They don't stock any, and I would not have too much faith in their inventory or expertise with the road versions. That is why I ended up with what i did, despite one friend who is a KTM fanatic.

i've got a few ktm dealers around here as well, but like you said, they all specialize in dirt as well - it's good for me because between a few of my buddies and myself, we've torn a bike or two down to the frame and built it back up - plus those 2 strokes are easy.

the service issue is something I hadn't considered, but I suppose thats part of the price you pay for exclusivity.

Probably will cost a few thousand. Not cheap, but not insanely expensive either. I'm guessing it will handle better if you're racing...probably not noticeable if you're not though...so depends on the use. Pierobon builds (or at least used to) Ducati's race frames, so they know what they're doing.

I came very close to buying one for my old 748, at a price of $2K IIRC. Didn't because I knew it wouldn't be a long term race bike.
