Pretend your job is a courier in a mediumish-large city like Cleveland/Detroit/San Diego...lots of stop and go, traffic lights, and the occasional jump on the outerbelt where you'll be keeping it under 85mph most of the time. My experience is limited to the 750 and 900 respectively...and it's tough to choose between them. The 900 engine is just as streetable only with more fun on tap but the wet clutch on my 750 was fantastic for blasting away from a stand still. So I'd almost call them dead even.

I rode a really fast Japanese bike a few weeks ago, and it's what convinced me to NEVER sell my Monster. I think a Streetfighter and a Monster 600/620/750/900 would be a perfect 2 bike garage.

I can think of more perfect 2 bike garages (IMHO).  The Monster and the Streetfighter are too similar.  I reckon it would be better to have two bikes that fill different riding niches or appeal to different moods.

I don't do much "cruising" on my S2RK, I generally ride it in a "sporting" way.  I'm sure I would ride the Streetfighter the same way, only faster.

I took a 1098 Streetfighter for a long test ride.  It's an impressive bike, but not as good an all round street bike as a Monster, and again just my opinion, not as nice looking.  I suppose which bike you prefer the look of depends on whether you lean toward classic styling or a more modern, aggressive look.

I like my combo of my 620 and KTM although once other stuff is out of the way I do need to add more

"Best two-bike garage" very much depends on where you live and your chosen riding styles.

I need a dual-sport with long legs (lots of fuel) as my primary.  It's gotta handle miles of dusty dirt/gravel, do it comfortably, and not need fuel every other day when commuting (~67 miles round-trip, daily).  Ideal second bike for me would be purely fun/eye-candy.  Anything from an MH900E to an original 916 to a Panigale Tricolore... or something cool and vintage.  Old Norton?

Anyway... yeah, "best two-bike garage" is highly dependent on individual needs/wants.  That said, I would agree with others that a Monster-Streetfighter pairing has a but too much overlap.

A friends GSXR1000. I wanna ride it again in a more appropriate setting before I say I didn't like it though.

Based on my experience with a carbed M750 and a FI 900SS, I would say an injected M750 would be a good courier bike. 

However, not a Duc, but the Honda Hawk GT sitting in my garage would be an incredible courier bike.  It's very similar to my M750 (v-twin, close in engine size, not down too much on power etc) except it is narrower and a little easier to manage in  traffic.  Anyone that has had a hydraulic clutch get too hot in stop & go traffic can attest that sometimes a cable actuated clutch can be and advantage for a courier bike.

Monster/Streetfighter pairing overlap...

I have a S4r monster and 1098 SFs and personally think they're a perfect pair, the monster to me is the old school style of naked ducati born of the 90s and the streetfighter is the face of naked ducati's in the 21st century alas both watercooled but I'm afraid air cooled bikes seem to be a thing of the past, we now await the new monster which I've been told that I've got the job of running in the shops demo as soon as it arrives...
