Mazak. I did not send it back to mazak. They were 20 grand and two weeks minimum. I sent it to spindles plus for half the money and five day turnaround. They rebuilt the spindle while the motor was off at Endeavor for a rewind.

Should be back in house tomorrow by 10:30am with the service tech on hand.

Rebuild motor/spindle showed up on time, service guy was on time, new spindle dropped right into place with no make the beast with two backsing around and with making no adjustments we had .0008" taper over 3 inches and got that dialed down to .0001" over 3 inches.

The turret indicated really well also and required no adjustment.  All that's left is to check the tail stock alignment, throw the covers back on and setup a job we can start turning into chips.

Looks like we're half a day ahead of schedule [thumbsup]

Well, things seem to be working OK.

Until yesterday morning when we started having trouble with the high pressure coolant pump. It's only 500psi but there was really bad pulsation in the output hose. It took two hours for me to theorize a stuck open check valve could cause that condition.

We pulled all six and sure enough the last one had a big piece of garbage stuck in it holding it open. Once that was removed the pump ran normally.

I swear. Sometimes you just can't catch a break.

So it goes.

So I went and bought another lathe.

I don't know wtf is wrong with me.

Deal King won out on this one. It was too nice, came with a bunch of spendy live tool holders and was really the right money.

It showed up yesterday. I figured out how to start the lease on it, move it to my shop and wire it without spending any of my own money out of pocket :D
