DP... still have that old long gun (flintlock??) that you posted pics of a while back? Ever get the history/story on it? [popcorn]

Maybe you posted about it at the time but I've slept since then and have had a couple of cocktails. ;D
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

Handguns are great and all but a well handled long gun increases your capacity by an order of magnitude.

Do the cowboy thing and get a lever action in a pistol caliber... like a Henry in .357mag. You can shoot the magnums and .38spl. Plus you would have an excuse to buy a nice .357 wheelgun. Win-win. Or go DP's route and get the lever gun in .22LR. You could shoot LR, Longs and Shorts. Same for a .22LR revolver. ;)

I do...and I did.

It turns out it is indeed authentic, and is of Austrian/Germanic manufacture.

Pretty much what I though it was.

I think the posts are in the gun picture thread.

edit...

I know you're kind of old and feeble. :-*

Neato gun too.

Did the same years ago with Winchester 94s when they were more readily available... and affordable. One in .22LR and the other in .45 Colt to pair along with my 3rd gen SAA. Made sense 100+ years ago and still does.

Was carrying my Marlin 45-70 lever gun Saturday deer hunting.  Poor coyote managed to sneak around another hunter in a blind off the edge of my property.  He was looking back at the blind with a smug expression, but he didn't realize he was 20 yards away from me.  Another coyote trooper hat in progress.  No deer yet.  Saw a small doe and a couple fauns and a little spike buck this morning, but nothing I wanted to shoot.  Going to head out in about a half hour and sit till dark - see what comes out.  Long bombing on open fields so its 300 Win time.

Jesus.  Can't imagine there'd be much left of that coyote after hitting it with that buffalo gun at 20 yds.
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail!

Actually, I was shooting a 500 grain flat nose, hard cast bullet.  That poor little canine didn't have enough resistance to make that big bullet even take notice.  Very little damage.  Where you really get lots of damage is with high velocity, expanding bullets.  This one is just loping along at about 1700 fps.  It'll still shoot lengthwise through a deer.  Never underestimate the power of big, slow bullets.

Ah, the famous Texas heart shot... from ass to chest. ;) [evil] [popcorn]

My step son and his Dad will be hunting at my east TX place this Thanksgiving weekend. We've got two feeders up and two nice tree stands 60-70 yards away. No deer for me. What I'm after are the pesky feral hogs that keep rooting up my yard and fields. They are really tearing up my sister & brother in law's farm 40 minutes away. If I come up empty handed at my place I'll let the deer hunters have it and head to my sister's for piggies. A TX heart shot on a big hog would make my holiday weekend. [evil] [bacon]
