Which ever ;D

we'll start with that weird facial hair you got going on and blame it on permeating your brain and judgement....and then we'll accent it with an orange twist that skews your judgement...LOL

Facial hair definitely does affect judgment :D

Well, my beard took over again and I bought another one  [roll]

I ran this machine 12 years ago for the company that owns it now (and they bought it new) and I always said to the Okuma salesmen that if they ever traded it or sold it I wanted dibs.

So, I got the call not 3 weeks after I just bought my last lathe.

Timing.  It's always in the timing.

I sort of lucked out and leased some extra money with the last machine and it was almost enough to cover this one.  Things are slow and money, as always, is tight so I really shouldn't be doing it, but it's the sort of thing that's wrong to pass on.

It expands my turning capacity from 12-1/2" diamter to 14-1/4 (16-17" if I employ some ancient chineese secrets and cheat it bigger)  I have a good customer that deals a lot in larger parts (larger than what I can do for them).  He was immediately positive about the upgrade and told me he'd send me stuff to quote.

One more brick in the foundation of my empire.

How many machines do you have now?

And will you be needing to move again to another larger shop?

Things are traditionally slow this time of year in your biz...

no?

It always comes around. ;)

3 under power, 1 waiting on my landlord to finish upgrading us from 200 to 400 amp service.

Then the newest will be here mid January.

One more after that and well need more electric ;D

Seems that way.

I'm going to put a more serious effort into a line of bike parts. They seem to be mostly economy proof. :D

So far. Room for maybe one more. After that I'll just rent more space.

Crazy how there is no such thing as too much space. It fills up quicker than you can think.  [cheeky]

Just scored an awesome super precision Starrett level off eBay for $250. $800+ new. Each graduation = .0005" per foot.

Now I can level my own equipment :)

Before you put too much effort into that, I'd find out the history of Cycle Cat prior to it being owned by Chris Calovini.

It's a good business lesson of what NOT to do.
