Theft ..I would not call it theft it is all available on line....... XBMC just puts it at your finger tips   ..and the way the entertainment industry rips us off ..think of it as a equalizer

If you guys want to keep paying cable / satellite / netflix ..go ahead

Shouldn't be a Flash issue though, since NF uses Silverlight or HTML 5

You can check your Playback settings under your account profile. Try changing it to Auto or a lower quality setting, and/or try toggling between HTML 5 and Silverlight.

agreed, but he's getting errors related to flash.

SD
if you right click on the movie you should get a silverlite tab to appear. double click that and goto playback tab and uncheck hardware acceleration.

Did you give Chrome a try?

I tried Chrome last night, it works just as well as FF but still the same lockup on step forward/back in the video.

I've been running without hardware acceleration for a couple days, no impact on playback quality, but I still have the lockup.

Toggled to HTML5, no love there, still locks up.

I'll experiment more, thanks for the help scaramanga and Deviant.  [beer]

I just bought a new blu-ray player ($70) because I gave my old one away.  In addition to playing DVDs, it has Netflix, Hulu+, Amazon Prime Streaming, NBA league pass, Vudu, and almost 100 other apps/programs.  Obviously, each one is a paid service that I can elect to have or not, but I use it for Netflix and a few others and it's great without any worries about CPU speed, etc.  Plus, I watch on my TV (42") rather than my laptop (13").

Anyway, if you're set on Netflix and not bound to your computer, I recommend it or something similar device (roku, appleTV, etc.).  Just a thought that may avoid the issues you're facing.  Obviously, an investment is involved, but worth it in my experience.

you can use the following (in windowed mode, not full-screen) to access diagnostic information from the steam/player:

Ctrl+Shift+Alt+M â€" Menu; includes loading custom .dfxp sub-title files.
Ctrl+Shift+Alt+C â€" Codes; frame rate plus other (unknown to me) info. Also makes the other overlays green.
Ctrl+Shift+Alt+D â€" Display A/V Stats on-screen
Ctrl+Shift+Alt+L â€" Logging window
Ctrl+Shift+Alt+P â€" Player info
Ctrl+Shift+Alt+R â€" toggle color Rotation for overlays in Chrome; probably a debugging feature.
Ctrl+Shift+Alt+S â€" current Streaming bit-rate and manual bit-rate selection

Is that Chrome only, or FF only, or any browser?

Internet chat on the netflix helpline ended with them suggesting that I back up all my files and re-format the hard-drive.
I'm not happy with that proposed solution.

What is the actual problem if that is the solution??
