Molly has one and she likes it a lot. We also have 2 older iPads, and she uses the Surface most of the time. I've never used it, but I like my Windows phone a lot, and I'm guessing they operate similar.

Cool..thanks J!  Say hi to the wife.   We were excited to buy one tonight but they were sold out in the two stores closest to us.  Only one downfall to the device, the wife can't play her games for work on it.  Other than that, I'm sure it will get a lot of use.

May have to check into those Windows phones too.

A few of the executives where I work use them, I have used them briefly.  They are neat, the graphics hardware is beefy enough to drive two 24" widescreen monitors when it's in its docking station.  A touchscreen really is what windows 8 was designed for, so it is a better experience than running windows 8 on a conventional laptop or desktop.  I question if Microsoft really "gets" tablets, IMHO, they are perfect for the viewing of content, videos, documents pictures and the like, but for the actual creation of content, I prefer to put the surface in a docking station so I can use a full sized monitor keyboard and mouse.  Microsoft would have to radically redesign MS Office to really work well with a touch screen, fingers are too big and the menu options are too small.
