What are we pissed off about?

I don't think anyone is pissed off,  they're just hibernating and grumpy.

Yep.

Zero degree highs (or less) for extended periods of time make for grumpiness.

I have no idea how you folks in those freezing climates do it. You are either tougher or crazier than me... probably both. [laugh] How in the world do you drag yourself out of bed in the morning knowing it's 0-10 degrees outside, maybe below 0? How much fun is that drive to work? Heck, yesterday I was freezing walking my dog in 10-11 degree wind chills and it's only 28 right now at lunchtime. Yeah, I know, laugh your butt off. But it will be 70 and sunny here on Friday, 60-65 tomorrow. Now who's laughing. [laugh] [beer]

Seriously, more power to you all for dealing with it. Hope your damn heating fuel bills go down soon. I am sure they are gouging the hell out of you all. >:(

Look at the bright side. First WSBK race in about a month at Phillip Island. [thumbsup] [Dolph]

It is not easy, but i have been in MI for my whole life (29 years).  I wish I could say I am used to it but this year is different.  We have just hit an all time record for snowfall and it is currently -12 degrees with the windchill and will be close to 20 below tonight.  I am definitely ready to move south.  The wife and I were thinking North Carolina.  Still get the seasons, just not as bitter cold in the winter.  Where are you from?

Dallas, TX here.

And yes, the Carolinas are beautiful. Just don't dig the hurricane activity in the gulf and on the eastern seaboard. Had my fill of that in Grand Cayman on my honeymoon. [bang]

No two ways about it, this winter has been a kick in the shorts for everyone. Just saw a satellite picture comparison of California Jan. 2013 and Jan. 2014. Last year all the areas of the state that get snow were covered in it, as they should be. This year there was a good 90% less snow. The picture looked like a summer view. It was shocking. No snow = no water run off = more drought = more wild fires. Ugh.

It's the end of the world. [laugh] [drink]

I think it was -13 on my Jeep's dash on the way to work yesterday. Plus wind chill. -11 today.

Over the weekend we had winds approaching 50 MPH and the wind chill temps were allegedly -50. I didn't go out to check.

Low 20s tomorrow, woohoo! make the beast with two backsing heat wave!  [thumbsup]

I agree that the riding would spur the forum topics, but I would think lack of ANYTHING thanks to old man winter, the forum would be blowing up due to boredom

Ah hell, lets just turn this into the fart thread.

If it was 28 here tomorrow I'd stop wearing a coat.

-10 this morning. No idea what the wind chill was. -35 likely. All the doors in my house are hard to open when its this cold. The jambs all shrink.

The door on my accord opens with noticeable resistance and all roads are a sheet of ice since the salt or the brine don't work well at these temps. Snow packs around the wheel wells on the car and turn to solid ice. Snow/ice also packs in the wheels and requires manual removal or I suffer terribly out of balance wheels that literally shake the whole car and my teeth too.

I run the heater on high the whole way to the shop and even after a 50-60 minute drive its still not hot enough to bother me.

Why do I live here again?

Our winters aren't much different than your summers if you think about it. A cousin lives in Houston and complains of how the summers are so HOT they are stuck indoors and don't do much. And I'm sure your A/C bills probably rival our winter heating bills. I guess you just get used to where you chose to live. I will say we don't get too many hurricanes, earthquakes, and droughts in these parts. So I guess its all relative.

One good thing about all the snow for us...the lakes are in good shape for summer unlike a few years back when we had really low lake levels.
