Well ... if d'Ascanio hadn't been 'allowed' to go and work with Piaggio, then Pallavicino & Torre (aeronautical engineers too) wouldn't have created the Lambretta for Innocenti as we know it and we may have only had the stamped-frame Vespa-like design.
Fascinating.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Ducati is the pretty girl that can't walk in heels without stumbling. I still love her.

Hard to make the beast with two backs up when you're starting with a Mantra.

Better looking and easier to work on, no doubt.

That bike started off nice but then it accidentally got stuck in an experimental Matter Transportation machine and came out scrambled.

This is my "other" project.  A 1968 Aermacchi/Harley.  I only work on it a couple of hours a week so it has been a slow process.  What makes it a cool Italian bike?
My uncle set the 125cc world land speed record with it in 1970 at Bonneville.  He also raced it on tracks all over the West.  He garaged it uncovered for 40 years so we had to repaint the frame and all the silver stuff.  We left the tank and headlight stock.  I also rebuilt the wiring harness as all the wires were brittle beyond reason.  Surprisingly there is a great source for NOS parts so I also replaced all the gaskets and seals.
