Funny -my hearing loss (left ear) was due to a surfacing accident.
Not enough air in the submarine, surfaced, raised the snorkle mast, and didn't throttle the headvalve...
...no time to equalize (I was sleeping) <POP!> went the left eardrum...
It's a helluva way to wake up.

Slag

Tumor in the left ear, removal courtesy of the US Army.  I would be able to hear just fine had I been a civilian  :-[

I don't know... had to be a few.
I remember waking up in a lot of pain and heard a funny whistling noise (almost sounded like something out of a cartoon) Then <POP> and the pain changed.
It sounded like apples falling out of a tree -all the feet hitting the deck- people waking up in the berthing compartment and jumping out of the rack...

We had been doing diver (SEAL) OPs for a couple of days... running out air compressors to supply them.
The air comes from one place -inside the "people tank".
We were about 25% down on air (75% of one atmosphere) ...and then it was all back at once.

Chuck Krams was working the ballast control panel that watch.
Thanks Chuck.  :-*

Each cabin is spoda' have a "Captain"
...in charge of deposits and other "stuff"...

I think it would ensure you have a place for sure.

Looks like you're the captain for #23 (unless there is a mutiny -Aaaargh! <insert pirate smiley here> )
