The user here 'Cloner' races a 250cc Aermacchi in vintage ultra-light wieght class locally.  I've ridden the bike in the pits.  It's fun...  PM him for more info.

I've also 'got running' an early 70's Aermacchi 350SS.  That was more fun due to the more street nature of the bike.  Still odd as I'm not used to right side GP shifting.

I have one in the shop that my uncle set the 125cc land speed record at Bonneville in 1970.  It is almost finished with the partial restoration and all I am waiting for is the threads to be repaired to the fuel valve and the switch mounted to the bar.  Then we are both gonna ride the heck out of it.  Plan on taking it to Carmel on May 17th for a show.  Gonna have the record on display as well as his helmet and leathers. 

It will absolutely be ridden.  My uncle has already purchased a new jacket, boots and helmet for the little beast.

The right side shifting never really bothered me as my Norton had that set up.  The bikes are fun in a funky sort of way but they still had crap suspension and crap brakes. That was OK as they didn't really have any power anyway.    It's just that for the time the Ducati singles with the desmo heads were way better. Hey, you could argue that old BSA 350 Victors were better.

Ask Cloner about passing an R1 on his Aermacchi...  His bike is lightly 'massaged' (I'm not allowed to say much more than that...)

That does not compute.  Guzzi's and Ducati's go together like peas and carrots.
