Cool!

I'm hopefully getting started on a canvas that will be attached to a vaulted ceiling in a church-turned house. Keep your fingers crossed.

It will be a renaissance themed.

Pics to follow.

Nice belt!!! I've done only a little leather stitching & other leather work (mostly sheathes for knives), but would love to learn more. I just picked up one of those lovely old craft books on leather braiding that's going to be fun; I'd always wondered how to do Mystery Braids like these, where the ends of the leather strips aren't free:

My latest furniture project. A sideboard made of old growth cedar and finished with teak oil:

If you turn those belts over you would see the free ends (leather strips).
Look closely and you can see where the ends go in between and into the back side.
Looks cool though.
EDIT: Also looks like I was wrong according to the Martha Stewart website.

Those braids are cool.

I don't see any loose ends hiding.

My dad is big into tying knots.

I know how, it's just that sometimes mysteries should stay mysterious.  ;D

But for Ducatamount's edification, here are the steps for a basic, three-strand mystery braid (no free ends required):
