Hi everyone. I've been thinking about switching out my stock bars on my 2011 696 for something a more sporty (shorter and a little more swept) for a while now. Lucky for me, I went down at the track a few weekends ago, and bent my bars, so now my hand is forced :P

Does anyone have any tips on where to look or what will fit a completely stock set up. Any tips on speific parts themselves would be awesome too.

thanks!

Discussed this in a previous post, but after a failed attempt at clip-ons with risers I went with the Woodcraft setup on my 796.  Works great for me comfort wise, for appearance I painted the top triple and bar riser the Woodcraft adapter plate sits on black.  I'm happy and I get a lot of interest and compliments on the whole effect.

I've seen the woodcraft set up and they look pretty good. I might go with those or the ones posted in the link from ungeheuer.

thanks for the tips!

I went with classic woodcraft clip-ons with a 3" rise and a Speedymoto top triple. If you arent looking for clip-ons Rizoma makes a very nice and affordable handlebar for the Monster that is a bit more swept and lower profile then the stock plus it comes in a variety of colors. I had them before the clip-ons and they were great. In terms of handlebar top triple options I would highly recommend anything by Rizoma, Woodcraft or CycleCat.

I've got the suburban machinery bars on my 696 and I like them a lot.

Same here.  Single best mod I've done.  Completely changed the way the bike felt.

I wanted the suburban machinery bars, but unfortunately the bars that fit my bike are on back order for 2-3 weeks... I couldn't wait any longer so I paid up and got the Woodcraft with 1" risers.. they arrive on Wednesday  8).

thanks again for all the input!

the clip ons look pretty nice btw!

Update: I got the Woodcraft bars with 1 inch risers, and flipped them so it's dropped 1 inch and I love it. feels much better/aggressive. I have yet to get back on the twisties, but I expect that it'll feel much better hanging of in the turns.

thanks for all the tips!
