ECU Flash Options

Here's my issue on my 2005 620 Dark.  I've got some scratches on my gauge cluster and I want new gauges. Found some nice new gauges for a Sport 1k that should be plug and play. The problem is I need to flash the ECU to get these to work.  I have yet to find anyone who will charge me less to flash the ECU just to disable the immobilizer.  They all say it's part of the mapping costs so I might as well change the mapping too. So now I'm thinking well yeah if I'm going to pay for it I might as well change the mapping. Maybe it will even improve the performance. But... I've been told on this forum in the past that it's not worth it on the 620. Its still got the stock air intake (I'd be happy to modify it if that's required to get the most out of a remap) and I've got Boom Tubes.  Right now she runs great. Occasional pop when starting but besides that no complaints. If I do decide to get a remap what do I ask for? I know they dont have a predefined map for Boom Tubes and when I asked Mark from Motocreations what people used he said on a 620 as far as he knew they just left the stock mappings. That doesnt mean a remap wont improve things of course. I never had a pop like that when starting before the boom tubes. I am a little afraid (okay very afraid) of changing it and having it run worse and then theres no way to restore the previous mapping without shelling out more cash. Do I need to get a Power Commander or I can I just reflash the ECU? Do I need to open up the airbox? Not sure what to do here as I'm in unfamiliar territory. Any advice on this? ... please.

I've also heard you can mate the stock ECU to new Gauges. Is that an option?

BTW these are the gauges any reason these wouldnt work?

Call Bobby at Houston Superbikes. He has all the answers to your questions. He usually charges about $250 to reflash an ECU with a DP Race map if one's available for your bike. If you have an immobilizer be sure and ask him to eliminate it.
