Although most have not.

Visited the memorial site this spring.  Walking around looking at the seemingly never ending list of names engraved into the stone was an experience I certainly won't forget.

I've returned twice, missing friends, a bit too much emotion for me and needed to leave both times. The last time was in 2006, have not tried since.

I will visit Freedom Tower and the memorial soon (or at least try).

When I heard about it on the radio on my drive into work I first thought that it was a joke.
Then I thought what kind of dumb ass flew a plane into one of the towers.
I laughed in disbelief.
Was it foggy, or bad weather?
At this point I only had limited information and I thought that it was a small propeller plane.
Once I got to work, better reports were coming in and then I knew.
A group of us went over to a near by resturant that had a TV.
It was there, in the Shack where indelible images were burned into my memory.

As much as it hurts to remember 9/11, I can't help but to have a warm feeling when I think of 9/12 and those days after. Those days when citizens of this country came together. We forgot about politics and our differences and became (for a while) Americans.

I'm a 9/12 guy too

I cant describe the feeling when watching an older movie showing the NY skyline and they're there.

I just took this on my way home. Sad and beautiful and haunting.  Lots of people just stopped, staring.



As much controversy and politics there were over the memorial, they definitively got this part right IMO.
