want to buy another bike

I have been wanting another Ducati for a couple years now. Currently ride a 900 monster and
have always liked the s4 series. But - I've never had a faired bike and really, really, really  love
my 900. Since I'm kind of old school I've also lusted after a 900 super sport with the square
headlight, because it's faired and it would satisfy my urge for a faired bike. The only down side
to a s4 would be what I consider extreme power, although riding a friend's 1098s for a bit the power
didn't seem to be uncontrollable. What, in everyone's view would be the best bike to find?
Love monsters and the way the look and feel, suit my riding style, commuting, twistys,  just riding around
stuff like that. I "think" I can afford either.

Thanks for any input. By the way I know the two are worlds apart from each other.

MTS1100?  You can find them at some pretty good prices now, same 2v as the monster, and it's a jack of all trades bike.  Or look for a MTS1200 used?  I've never heard a bad thing about that bike... still pretty expensive used though.

Can't get over the way an 1100 multi looks. No offense to
Multi owners, they are great -but-  if they were full faired
Like an ss I'd be all over it. Saw an 1100 monster on here
that someone put race fairings on. It was beautiful. 1200's
are to pricey for me. I'm just wondering if a s4r or s4rs would
would stop my urge for a supersport.

The 1098 is pretty smooth, at least WRT my 1100 EVO  [roll]
Even though it has many horses on it.
The 1199 is like riding a wild mustang  ;D

Superligths are beautiful. But hard to find. That's the style i lust after. The 1098 reference was
just to prove to  myself I could control a powerful bike. Still rather have a 900 ss because of the way I ride
but s4r s and s4rses are more plentiful. Have to find something before the wife changes her mind

I like it, but I think it is begging for the exhaust style of the triumph scrambler.

That's superannuation $$$ [laugh]

A 900SS is a beautiful thing and lends itself to hot, short manifold motor builds. Just sayin'. ;D

Keep the Monster and find a Paso 907ie, you won't spend a lot on it and you'll have something special that is fun to ride. Just MHO. - Gene

Gene. Thanks for that. I actually like the way the 907ie
looks. Maybe a bit covered, any heating issues? The black
ones with white wheels especially. The older supersports
(Red w/ white frame and wheels) are I think my favorite.

I'll research them. Thanks for your input. Do you miss your
Supersport?

Black is very rare. Mine is Red with White wheels. I have not had any heating issues, the fan has come on once or twice. The only issue I had was the legs were a little high which was solved with this http://www.ducatidesigns.com/inc/sdetail/1730/2714 The previous owner did not treat the bike very well and my GF, Ducpond, and I ahev worked to get this bike back on the road in good shape and it gets kudos wherever I ride it. It is a very nice rider and I enjoy riding it. It handles well enough and the brakes, motor are pretty amazing for a bike of that vintage. I do not miss my Supersport, except that I bought it mostly for the track, so I'm currently without a track bike. The newer model SS did not have very friendly ergos and my neck, even with some risers added, did not get along with that bike. You should not have any trouble finding a 907 Paso in the $3.5K - $4K range. Stay away from the 750, 16" wheels and carbs, that is MHO. - Gene
