My wife has an '06 S4R (996) and would like to install Full System Zard's. Not sure if I need to use a PCIII or the Ducati chip?  Any feedback would be appreciated.

TIA,
Fredy

ps. I did try and search and had no luck  ???

I'd go PC III, cut the air-box lid with a proper dyno tune. You'll be happy...

It's a good idea. Making changes to the exhaust system changes the flow of air through the engine. If you don't match it with changes to the fuel flow you can't be sure you've got the correct air/fuel mix. A PCM3 and dyno run will optimize it across the entire rev range. It's worth it alone for the knowing that your bike is tuned to perfection.

Yes to PCM, big pipes, airbox top off. Don't skip the proper dyno tune - the other stuff doesn't work without this part. And

Post a power curve. [thumbsup]

I'm guessing 115 to 120 RWHP.

Fredy,
I don't remember for sure, but I think the 2006 S4R runs in closed loop?  If you can confirm that, I could be more helpful.  If it is closed loop, here's a thread I maintain on trying to mod the OEM ECU:

The short answer to your question is Yes, if you go full exhaust and open airbox.  With closed/OEM airbox, it is less clear.

Works fine on my 2006 S4R, had it in almost 2 years now.

There has been exceptions. Nakids S2R1000 has a PC3, and so does a few other guys here, but you really need to find someone talented enough to figure out a way to get it to work. Its not something you can drop in, upload a map, and go sailing.

Do you have a DPECU? a PCIII will work as a bolt on with a DPECU.

'06 S4R is open loop, so you can use a PCIII with it.

'06 S4Rs is closed loop.

Before you cut the airbox lid, pull it off, and tape the filter to the airbox.
Take it for a short ride, and see if you like the sound.

Hello All I'm Joi, Fredys wife:

Thanks for all the feedback it is very helpful and please keep it coming....

Thought I would add some information I just got from Kyle at Power Commander.  He said they Do Not have a power commander that will work with the 2006 S4R...they are still waiting on a by pass for the O2 sensors.  He went on the say if you get a kit ECU to eliminate the O2 Sensors then you can use the Power COmander III Part Number : 710-411.

So, Munch did you get a kit ECU?  if not you must be lucky because even Power Commander says it should not work.... [clap] [thumbsup]

Just to clarify, is your bike an S4R, or an S4Rs?

Bike is 2006 S4R.

Then it shouldn't have an O2 sensor, and thus it would be good to go with an S4 compatible PCIII.
Munch should be able to confirm the part#.

710-411 is the right part number.  I just put it on my bike 2 weeks ago...very easy install (less than 30 minutes).  I had no O2 sensors and it worked perfectly.  Most places advertise it to 2005 S4R, but the 06 is the same.  Ordered mine through Moto Wheels with my exhaust...great guys.  Only one of the maps was close...didn't have time for a full dyno tune/map, so we got it as close as possible for the meantime.
