weight difference between steel and aluminum swingarms; older Monsters

I had a chance to weigh both today, seems that information is a little hard to find and it's not always accurate. So for those who are curious;

The steel is 11.4 lbs
The alloy is 9.6 lbs

The axle from the alloy s.a. is also lighter; 14.3 ounces vs 18.25 ounces on the steel.

So a little over 2 lbs altogether.

I think 2 lbs is somewhat meaningful...I may not be able to discern a difference but *someone* could.

It does look better than the steel...I tried to convince myself it was about the same, but it isn't. The ridges look good, the end caps look good, the built in spools are nice and I particularly like the welds on the alloy swinger. It just looks nicer.

I painted mine black :)

suppose to be stiffer as well, at least on the non-hoopers.
M620 turned M800 but then back to M620 after the M800 died at 110k, and now to Multi 1000.

Mine'll be black too. That's another thing I tried to talk myself into liking and failed; the bare aluminum look whether brushed or polished. Maybe on some bikes but not mine.

I prefer the bare aluminum finish. I'd never paint it.
