Hello everybody,

Anyone has some experience with the "Smoke windscreen" on the new monster 821? Is there a big difference between driving with or without the screen?
I am driving once in a while on the highway and I am a bit afraid to buy a naked bike...

Any suggestion on which exhaust to take?
Termignoni race version (96480461A) or the Termignoni homologated one ?
I don't know if the homologated gives enough sound?

Thank you for your inputs!

Dino

You'll find some info about exhaust here  http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=69447.0

The windscreens usually do a lot more than the size indicates. Snug fitting clothes are also a big plus for high speed stability - often as important as a windscreen. In my opinion, no need to worry about riding a naked bike.

Thank you for your answer.

About the exhaust: I am not really looking for more power (engine of the 821 is strong enough for me). I am more interested in a nicer sound.
Is there a big difference in sound between the standard exhaust and the Termignoni homologated one?

I haven't heard the 821 with Termignoni, but as a general impression... the 821/1200 ehaust sounds a lot better than previous generations stock exhausts, so it might not be a must to upgrade.

The homologated slip ons include the catalytic converter, which strangle the sound - the 'race' ehaust is open and sounds MUCH better, but then you need to consider how that will work regarding local rules and how they are enforced.

It's not sensible to spend that much on homologated exhaust, but very few of us own and ride Ducatis because it's a sensible choice 8)

Ducati is the pretty girl that can't walk in heels without stumbling. I still love her.

I have found there are trade-offs putting small windscreens on naked bikes.  You do get addition protection, and yes, it is amazing how much protection a small screen will offer.  However, I have found this typically comes with a cost, that being additional turbulence and noise.  If your riding position currently places your helmet in clear air (no bike induced turbulence) you will be surprised how much noise a flyscreen will create.

The riding position on my 821 puts my helmet in clear air.  I have put several two hundred mile days on my 821 and get along fine without a windscreen.  I find the wind only begins to become an issue at 80 mph.

All true if you're talking about your T-100, (nice stable BTW! ;D), but the Ducati mini screens, bikini fairings, are a product of the wind tunnel.

FWIW, the fairing on my 796 works for me at 5' 8" and my son at 6' 3"+; the air is dramatically quieter than a bare/stock T-100. Two of my riding pals bought the last retro 1100 EVO's with no fairing. Both found complete takeoffs on eBay and totally rave about the still air pocket produced at 70+ MPH..., AND reduced turbulence!  ;)
