6 valves, non-desmo. Two exhaust ports, two intake ports per cylinder.

Hmmm... I think that's a damn good reason for a custom fab shop.
They're not trying to mass produce them for the public.

Their goal is to pump more air/fuel mixture thru the combustion chamber. It looks to have more valve area than a 4-valve head could manage.

turbo + direct injection would be less of a clusterfawk..
