[evil]    LOT OF PEOPLE GONNA CHECK THIS THREAD    [evil]

:o  NO TOMMY !! - NOT THAT KIND OF SWAPPING !!!!   [roll]

In a recent thread mention was made of a Ducati being offered to swap for a weekend. The Ducati owner was looking for a weekend of high end boat usage at Possum Kingdom Lake.  I feel sorry that the guy put this out on Craigslist because no telling what kinda maniacs that will attract ( after all it wound up on our board! ).

This led me to wonder about what are the rules of such an enterprise!  Being in the photo biz I often let FRIENDS ( no strangers ) use specialized photo gear of mine in exchange for the ability to borrow an exotic bit of equipment they have that I might need occasionally but, would never buy!

With camera gear & my friends the first rule is always that you get the item returned to you in as good or better condition than you lent it - period - no excuses.  This means if you borrow something and it just happens to reach the end of it's lifespan while you are using it, the borrower must repair or replace the item.  The lender also is lending an item without warranty - if you borrow a camera and it fails to work properly the lender is in no way held responsible for the blown shoot !

So - I'm just curious - are there similar "rules" about borrowing bikes & lending bikes ?

Don't worry I'm not trying to swap your 1098 for my ole GS for a weekend - unless you have a few acres that need plowing  ;D !  Svoloch can't come up with all the weird topics, & I want DLS to see a lot of AMAZING topics posted when he gets back - so talk it up !

It would also be interesting to hear who would swap what for what - be nice !!  Suggestion; Read twice before posting !!

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

[moto] I think that may be a safe bet !!  How does that work ? bike for boat !  Do you have to consider insurance etc. ? - seems like a good idea for a fun weekend but then so do boilermakers !!  [puke]

i believe the first page of you msf handbook reads. do not let anyone ride your motorcycle. plus i would hate to go to jail for homicide because some jack ass wrecked my bike and didn't pony up ALL repair money. hell i didn't let LYD ride it. i trust him and i still catch flack over it. mostly because i feel bad for not letting him ride it. hindsight is 20/20.

"Svoloch can't come up with all the weird topics"  <---  first of all, I have NO idea what you mean my this.  i think under careful review, you will discover that all my topics have been relevant, topical, and generated quite interesting and compelling responses.  Especially the helmet sweat bacteria community topic, because it's one of those pseudo taboo things that people tend not to talk about ( meaning, of course, the evolution part of the discussion )

now, to the point:  my rule is simple, if you tank mine, would I be happy riding off on yours?  if the answer is yes, I will throw you my keys and encourage you to finish your beer first.  If no, I will make a polite and subtle denial, something that won't hurt your feelings, but will succintly express the difficulty and awkwardness of the situation....  like "dude, if you wreck my bike, there's no way i'd be caught dead riding off on your sh1tbox, so go $%@ yourself"

So does that mean I can't ride your black 999?  I have a sh1tbox R1 you can ride away with.

***, thanks for letting me ride Cory's bike today.  You're right, you can do a burnout through every gear!  And that front brake is really good for endos too.

and that lowering link really comes in handy, i think...though we should re-install that ohlins rear shock....it comes down pretty hard on that stock showa we popped in there.  are we still on for the custom seat-chopping session?
