Just watched Schwantz test ride this at COTA on 'Naked Speed' on Velocity.

That's hot! (Not the fact that you have TV, the bike!  ;D)

I just watched this as well, awesome bike
not bad for $105,000.00  :o

Pretty cool. Ive been wanting to mention the new routing of the exhaust by Ducati which has been copied here. I dont like it. But otherwise nice bike. The single instument in the headlight is well done.

hmmm
dunno bout that one! looks a bit like a siver cockroach!

and the exhaust...  why so many welds?  surely they could have bent a lot of it?  nice work tho!

I like DrunkenMonkey's M944Chromo better.  This tries too hard.

Oh, and to the builder of this bike:  Ducati did make a plug to fit into the horizontal head to eliminate the tachometer drive.  Try looking for one next time.

Yeah, I don't like the bulbous exhaust look either.  I suppose it has some technical merit trying to create equal length pipes for each cylinder.  Reminds me of the side of an environmentally friendly 3.8L per flush crapper.

I think all those welds were unnecessary too, maybe it's supposed to create an industrial art look.  From here the welds don't look so great, sort of like they were OA welded instead of TIG.  Not that there's anything wrong with that, it just looks sort of rough on my screen.

Gotta make some compromises to meet that $105k price.  That price is my only real issue.  Part of the creative process is making do with real world available components.  Anyone can make a nice bike by throwing cubic money at it.   I do like the H section rims, twin shocks and aluminum work.

I really should finish some of the project bikes I've started and thought about over the years before I get to critical of someone else's work.

Here's a Photo of the 1200 exhaust. It probably does have some technical merit from a performance standpoint. but that stuff get in the way of the monolithic slag heap back there called an engine, and no doubt make it more difficult to clean and maintain. The whole thing would look better if You could see the engine I think. I don't know what to say about that stub of a frame, But I digress..

The pipes would look better if they were routed like the classic monsters.

MotoPsycho

Ever since they started 5 or 6 years ago routing the zaust like that, I've not liked those machines. But, just looking at it, it looks like they're trying to make equal length headers. Just do it like back in the day with the different size tubing.

I see that part of the reason with the 1200 is the location of the oil cooler and the shock layout; but with the J63 there is no reason at all to do it like that.

I like the polished cases, I hate painted aluminum. One of the things I did when I had more time in my youth, my first bike a 305 Honda Superhawk was strip the paint and polish the cases

Used a lot of NevrDull

T that "Naked Speed" show is pissing me off. They took a 900SP and dumped it just for a motor they could have found already out of a bike. I hate to see good saveable bikes ripped apart just for entertainment! It's all hack and chop..

lots of the 900ss get sold in bits rather than complete, they're worth more that way.

there's a few things about it i love.  brake master on brake pedal is just genius, i can see that getting stolen all over the place.

triples without pinch bolts is interesting

exhaust is a style of the times i would say.  once you've had to do a belt replacement on a diavel, you're over it.  i think it comes from the harley visual exhaust thing, where it can really help frame an engine.  but on the ducati the clutch cover gives a definition to the style that ends up being more imposing.  and it's very long - with those long inlets i wonder what the power curve looks like.

front tyre must go awfully close to the front head when compressed.  the straight frame top rail looks odd to me too, not sure why.  front tyre is too wide.  looking at it more, that's the biggest thing that makes it look wrong to me.  general swingarm strength and shock mounting looks a bit light on too.

unique anyway, and great skill level to make it.

I dig the make the beast with two backs out of this bike, and Kevin put it through it's paces at COTA. I'm not a fan of that exhaust shape (not my build though), but I love all the welds.  8)
