So working myself up to get a trailer (5x10 V nose, enclosed). Nothing grand, but I do want to fit it out with some 120v gear so it can be used as a ready place to catch some zzz at the track.

Thinking 30A shore power, feeding two breakers for two 15/20 circuits. Couple lights, couple outlets... and maybe an roof AC at some point. Having never done 120v wiring in a trailer - any tips?

Pondering a 120v to 12v converter to feed stuff like the 12v lights and a vent fan. But my concern is that pushing 12v at my tow vehicle... not sure of the, if any repercussions there. The most simple solution is just unhook of course, but I'd like to learn how to do it right. Another easy solution would be a inline pigtail with diodes between the trailer and truck... but that's still not *right*

Most guys I see just put a power strip or two inside, and connect what they want to it. The power strips are connected to a generator outside, or regular power if you're lucky enough to have it available. Heater, fridge, and lights all work well this way. Vent = open the door(s).

Heaters take a lot of power. Get a bigger generator. Roof AC seems like overkill for a 5x10 or similar trailer, and from what I know they use a lot of power too (at least my toy hauler one does). Get a 5 gallon bucket, throw an ice block in it, drill a few large holes in the top sides of the bucket, and put a fan on top pointing into the bucket. Poor man's AC! 

Anyway...probably not what you wanted, but this is what I see around here for people that sleep in their trailers (or vans). Otherwise people get proper RVs.  

Yeah, that options sure been considered, and may be what I end up with.

Other pondering include keeping all the inside stuff 12v (like 12v LED lights) and run it off a battery that lives in the trailer and perhaps have a pass-though port for an extension cord to run a couple fans, charge phone when shore power is around.

The AC is a bit TBD too.. trying to figure that out. Might be able to buy a buddies unit that's the sort one might use in the home. But a roof unit means that it's not in the way ever... and it gets stupid hot in the mid atlantic summers - so a decent helping of BTUs is needed to keep things in check.

If you decide on lighting as I can see, DO use LED . ..  as for a generator, I've seen a few that can move a few air tools and an air compressor  . . . bulky but, not overly large

No present plans for a genny. The track I go to most has shore power at 2 of its 3 courses. And that 3rd hardly gets used.

There's a new one opening for '16 60 miles away... no idea if that'll have power too/though. But bridge, come to it etc.

If you decide to wire it up you'll want to look into wiremold. It surface mounts and can be held in place with short screws.

I'm not getting a clone. So no 2nd side door and I'll have the roof vent. But much the same overall with the 6x10 "narrow track". I the height and width of a 6 by, lose a bit of interior volume but only occupy the foot print of a 5x10

Parking a trailer on a residential street is verboten in my county and I've only a small spot to stick any trailer thanks to a very steep lot. So small footprint does matter

Present thinking:
Herculiner for the floor and ramp. Though the 10x deck restore that Restoleum does is looking like a good option too. That one can be cleaned up with water. Herc liner needs xylene.

Run an extension chord in via a pass through to a power strip for 120v. At this stage I'm only going to be supplying a couple fans, phone charger and 12 power supply.

Build a little 120v to 12v supply box to feed a couple sets of these for interior lights. 2 or 3 sets depending on how much light they put out.

Going with the Pit Bull restraints stuff... too good not to.

Probably some shelves/baskets at some point. Gotta figure that out a bit more
