It's not meant to be be engaging threats past 15yds. For make the beast with two backs sake not past 7 for that matter.

Yup. I have a Smith and Wesson body guard in 380 with a laser.  7 yards is a stretch.

That was my first time out with my compact Ruger and I couldn't hit a damn thing. Pretty disappointed with that.

All those small guns are going to be the same.  They're not full size 1911's.

lazylightnin717

It's not the gun either.

Even with my 1911, I'm not much of a good shot past 15 yards.

No shame in my game  :P

:D Keep training. Dry fire everyday, 10-15 mins. Doesn't cost a dime.

I'm under the impression dry firing the Ruger is a big old no no.

Do you use snap caps or just let it go on an empty chamber?

Dry dry with any semi. Some of the revolvers I'd use snap caps. Nothing wrong using em in the semis either, just not necessary. I dry fire the make the beast with two backs out of my guns. Hell, every range session starts with dry fire work.

On that note. If you dry fire, go to a room, garage whatever with NO make the beast with two backsing ammo. Train, then either load (if that's your carry gun) or put it away. When I was training the FAM's they came to me and asked I not teach dry firing to the students because one of them shot a hole through his hotel wall. I said 'well he wasn't make the beast with two backsing dry firing then'.  :D

Dry firing made a huge difference for me when it comes to getting more accurate and comfortable with a new pistol.
Thanks to Kopfjäger's previous advice  [thumbsup]

I was shooting well at 7-10 yards but once I got out past 15 it went to shit.

How do you like that Kahr? They have one used at my local shop for a decent price.

for that pistol, anything past "social work" distance is irrelevant.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.
