A friend of mine is looking at a 950SM. Or DRKWNG's 990SD. You been on them and the 1290SD. How about a comparo of the three?

I have not had an opportunity to ride the 1290.

To compare the SD to the Sm,the  As   is much more manic. The sm is a bit more composed.

Stupidity abounds with both of them, but the sd is much better at stupid.

One other thing that most nutjobs or psychopaths may not think of is the sd is all day comfortable where the sm is good for about 4 hours.

  Hey guys, I have to wait till next month for my local dealer to get their shipment of 959's to have a demo ride!

 Here in California, there are lots of good, slightly used bikes for sale this time of year!

There's lots of those starting to pop up.  One guy I know just grabbed a 1199S with only 3,000 miles on it and he's over the moon.  I guess if you are splitting hairs the 1299 and 959 are better but you couldn't convince this guy now.

I'm assuming you have time one the 990. Is there any chance it is just as stuupid or did they dumb it down with the electronics?

This whole thread hijack should be shifted over to the Power of Orange thread.   

The stock set up on the 1290 is fairly tame and a kitted up 990SD is more entertaining to ride, if hooliganism is your cup of tea.  Now a kitted up 1290 should be a whole different story and I'll get back later with that on P/O.

So after many test rides, I was even more confused in selecting a bike.  I knew that I did not want to commit to a new bike since I might find out that sport bIkes are a pain in the ass. So I found the bike that I had drooled over when I first saw one new sitting in the Ducati dealership!

I found this sweet babe for sale on Craigslist by the original owner with low miles. Minus the NCR open clutch cover, it is completely original and was kept in like new condition!
